The long awaited Spuhr stock assembly for the G3/MP5/HK33/53 is now finally available. I tried a fully working prototype during the summer, mounted to the AK4 (HK G3), including the Spuhr hand guard and an Aimpoint. It made the G3 very controllable. The part number is [Read More…]
As the World leaders at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017 in Davos, Switzerland, were busy improving the state of the world there was a great opportunity for firearms paparazzis and spotters to have a look at what’s protecting the VIPs. The featured [Read More…]
Aimpoint announced their newest red dot, the Micro S-1. It is based on the H2 body style but is modified to mount to the rib of a shotgun. The S-1 features a 6 MOA dot and comes with an assortment of mounts made of a polymer carbon blend. It will retail for around $700.
From Switzerland to Las Vegas and back, B&T seem to have had an excellent SHOT Show with a booth flooded by visitors. The latest version of the USW was one of the attractions at SHOT, and it also made the cover of the Shot Show newspaper. Some of the information has [Read More…]
Please excuse the audio. We experienced some technical issues the last day of the show. The B&T USW is a fresh take on the duty weapon concept. There have been other handguns that have some of the same features, but none of them have been anywhere as well thought out. The B&T USW also [Read More…]
At the Beretta booth, I saw a Beretta Tactical 1301 with a distinct optic mount. It is something new by Aridus Industries. The mount is a dedicated Aimpoint mount. It lowers the Aimpoint so that the iron sights co-witness thru the Aimpoint. It looks like the mount [Read More…]
Just before the New Year, TFB reported about the rumor that Steyr and Rheinmetall were partnering to offer a new modular assault rifle. There is now an official Press Release from Rheinmetall to fill in some of the details that were unknown and unconfirmed. There is [Read More…]
Last year we broke the brand new B&T Universal Service Weapon and the corresponding Aimpoint mini red dot sight that is being made just for the new USW. I am excited to see what the shooting experience is like as well as ask them if they have any plans to [Read More…]
We’ve had a few articles discussing the much coveted MH1 Reflex sight from Hartman Ltd. I just spent a few days in a training class, ran by Lt Col Mickey Hartman himself, where the sights were an integral part of the curriculum. One of the benefits of not only [Read More…]
So, the headline is slightly misleading – obviously there are options listed here that should be classified as holographic or prismatic sights and not red dots (we talked about the differences a few months back in the astigmatism informational post). You see, I [Read More…]
Almost one month ago TFB, together with the blog Cornucopia, were the first to report that the Swedish SOG and Special Police Units were to get rifles from LWRCI. It’s always risky to be the first, because you may be proven wrong as the story develops. It was [Read More…]
This is the first time I have ever seen a Alpine Green B&T. This firearm is a B&T TP9 semi-auto Pistol with (or without) an Aimpoint Micro TL. The specific model is BT-TP9TLGRN and they’re available at Dakota Tactical, a company with a whole lot of cool [Read More…]
Uronen Precision from Finland is not unknown to regulars of TFB. Earlier this year we wrote about their new calibre .300 UP. It’s a small family company, but they do a lot of clever R&D and when they’re not busy developing new calibers they from time to [Read More…]
Teemu Rintala from Finland, one of the World’s best rifle and shotgun shooters. Nordic Champion, and now aiming for World Rifle Shoot in Russia 2017. I really hope the best practical rifle shooters from all around the World will come to this competition, but I [Read More…]
At the recent European IPSC Hangdun Championship in Hungary, Italian Tanfoglio had a booth to support its customers (thanks very much for the spare extractor, my gun ran without problems the last 2 days). They also showed some improvements and news, like the Tanfoglio [Read More…]

Background: You may remember NATO’s “Powered Rail Team”, consisting of 10 nations with the common goal of bringing forward a STANAG (NATO standardization document) for a Powered Accessory Rail for small firearms? Think a Picatinny rail, but with power [Read More…]
B&T from Switzerland is a relatively small but highly innovative company. Their line of 9×19 mm SMGs and semi-automatic carbines is ever developing. Yes, there is also a .45 APC but I presume the sales are very low. When I visited the factory last year, only [Read More…]
Whenever I travel somewhere, I have a tendency to notice armed police/security. Especially when they are carrying rifles. Just one week after the Chelsea bombing in NYC, my wife and I took our 4 month old to visit NYC. It was a bit of a risk since I could not legally [Read More…]
Thanks to Dickson L. for sharing these pics with us. North Sylva, a Canadian firearms importer got this Steyr .50BMG in stock. According to Steyr’s website the HS .50 retails for $5795. 5rd side ways magazine allows the OAL to be shorter and the fire [Read More…]
Scalarworks makes some pretty nice (and light weight) optics mounts. Their minimalist styled Low Drag Mount Aimpoint Micro mount weights only 1.33oz and looks pretty sweet. They also make a really good optics mount for the Benelli M4 shotguns that we did a write up on [Read More…]
Dave Merrill of Breech Bang Clear explains that there is really no such thing as parallax free. He breaks it down rather simply and it is easy to grasp. Here is a photo that illustrates how the reticle is reflected in the optic. Most of the time a [Read More…]
About 15 years ago I sadly boxed up a brand new Red Dot Optic for it’s return to the manufacturer without ever having used it to fire a shot – the reticle was a blurry burst rather than a crisp clear dot. But before I called and asked for a return [Read More…]

Let’s start with some Mythology: The 12th-century King Eric IX saw a golden cross in the blue sky as he landed in Finland during the First Swedish Crusade in 1157. Seeing this as a sign from God he adopted the golden cross against a blue background as his banner. [Read More…]
Looks like this was probably done as a joke. I see a rather tricked out Glock that appears to be done by Agency Arms. It has an RMR mounted to the slide and is holstered in a Crye Precision holster. The Glock has a threaded barrel with the Tuff Products railed muzzle [Read More…]
Switzerland, a country with gun laws that would make a lot of (but far from all) Americans jealous. What a great country to get represented by this Blitz SBR! In summary, their gun laws can be described as less restrictive than most other European countries. On the [Read More…]
Let’s go a bit more into detail with one of the “Country Rifles” made by Rainier Arms for the IWA 2016 exhibition in Germany. We’ve published a few pictures before, but we now have more and better quality images to display. It would be a waste to [Read More…]
