Coming to America: The GM6 Lynx .50-cal Reciprocating Bullpup

Over the years, TFB has brought you some occasional tidbits about the GM6 Lynx. In 2018 it featured in a “Picture of the Day” post, in 2016 Nick brought you some cool factory tour content, and in 2014 he gave you a cool video of this behemoth in action. This unusual rifle is almost undeniably cool, but there have been two primary problems with it so far. For one, access: the Lynx is made in Hungary by a company called SERO International – and they don’t appear to have a US-based direct subsidiary or sister company to provide this .50 to potential buyers in the states. The second issue has been cost. On the rare occasion you could find one, you were looking at a price tag probably somewhere in the neighborhood of $15,000. Not exactly budget-friendly for most shooters!

Inside The AK-50 – For When You want .50 BMG and Reliability

John Moses Browning gifted upon the world a large variety of firearms gifts. G43 vs. 50 Cal – FIGHT!

Okay, its more of a mauling, but that does not mean its not good entertainment and unlike the upcoming Mayweather “finale” boxing match, you dont have to pay to watch this one-sided affair. Glock’s wonder polymer does not hold up well to a .50 slug.

Not All Penetration Data Is Created Equal

The subject of armor penetration previously was largely confined to the realm of big bore rifles or cannons intended to tackle tanks and other kinds of armored vehicles, but as the popularity of steel and composite body armor increases, it has become more and more relevant to the subject of small arms. It may be tempting to pull contextless data from different sources, and present them as being comparable, but in most cases this is a mistake. Unfortunately, quoting armor penetration numbers from two different countries or organizations is not a good way to compare the capabilities of rounds against one another, as I will explain.
