This year marks the 75th Anniversary of World War II and to honor those firearms of old Winchester has some new throwback ammunition. With packaging appropriate for the time period as well as correct grain weights, pressures and components they are now proudly announcing their WWII Victory Series.

Springfield Armory has been very busy in the last few months pumping out multiple new firearms for consumers. Everything from a small, carry pistol like the 911 .380 ACP up to the thunderous TRP Operator 10mm.

During the range day of SHOT Show 2018,  Hailey Ordnance Company has introduced a new line of ammunition. The company is specialized in making silencers and suppressed weapon systems and the ammunition they are now making is subsonic which, as you know, is more efficiently suppressed due to lack of the sonic boom produced by the supersonic bullets. They are going to start offering 9mm Luger, .45 ACP and 12 gauge cartridges loaded to subsonic velocities and with projectiles heavier than it is normally seen in this calibers.

As we are now merely days away from SHOT Show 2018, Taurus has begun to slowly leak more and more of their new firearms. We previously covered their announcement of a 1911 Commander model with a 4.2″ barrel. Now Taurus has announced a 1911 Officer model that has a non-traditional 3 1/2″ barrel.

Taurus has had radio silence in regards to announcing new products leading up to SHOT Show 2018 thus far. It’s almost industry protocol nowadays to leak, if not publicly announce, your new wares before letting the media and public fondle them at SHOT. In a very non-theatrical manner, Taurus announced today that they will have a NEW 1911 Commander chambered for .45 ACP coming out at SHOT Show.

Nighthawk Custom, the quality custom shop from Arkansas, is used to having one gunsmith labor to build one gun at a time. With their new Boardroom Series of pistols, this should be pretty evident. To the tune of $4,195 (not legal for our California friends), you can get a subtly high-class 1911 that will be a gem to shoot as well.

In celebration of the company’s 40th anniversary, Wilson Combat has released a beautiful cased set consisting of two handguns, a knife, and two challenge coins. Let’s take a look at each of the items included in this set.

Tactical Edge Arms has added 10mm and .45 ACP versions of their RD series of pistols. The 9mm version was introduced earlier in October. The model designations RD-9, RD-10 and RD-45 indicate the calibers these firearms are chambered in – 9mm Luger, 10mm Auto and .45 APC respectively.

Heizer Defense has recently announced that the first batch of PKO-45 pistols had been shipped to a dealer. It means the sales of these long-awaited handguns have started. The MSRP is $899.

Kimber Mfg., Inc. recently introduced a number of new firearms for the coming year. One of these new guns is a long slide 1911 style pistol that will be offered in 10mm and .45 ACP.

Earlier this year, Tom Gomez did an excellent write up of the XDE (in 9mm). Today, Springfield Armory is releasing the XDE in .45 ACP. We had an opportunity to shoot one at the Springfield Desert Duel (the first week of November) and it definitely stays true to the characteristics of the XDE line, both very concealable and much easier to rack, due to the “low-effort” steel slide, which makes the slide easier to rack by an estimated 30%.

Wilson Combat announced a 40th Anniversary edition pistol to celebrate the company’s many decades of gun making.

Pistol caliber carbines seem to be all the rage currently. While there are exceptions like the Kel-Tec Sub-2000, many of the guns are built on the AR platform. Most of those guns are chambered for the 9mm cartridge, though some are available in other calibers.

TNW Firearms has introduced a build kit version of their Aero Survival Rifle. It comes as a parts kit which you need to assemble yourself. The receiver of this kit is 80% finished, which doesn’t qualify it as a firearm according to the US legislation.

A YouTube channel called 704 TACTICAL has published a video where the host of the channel makes a DIY body armor plate out of simple and cheap items found in Dollar Tree store. He applied glue into a cookie pan, glued some decorative stones to the pan, put a book as a backing layer and wrapped everything together with duct tape. The result is surprising and impressive.
