Welcome everyone to the 95th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. [TFB GUNFEST] B&T VP-9 Reborn? The Amazing NEW B&T Station SIX
In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves visits B&T USA to talk about their reboot of the B&T VP-9: The Station SIX. The Station SIX is an integrally suppressed, magazine-fed, bolt action pistol that will be available in 9mm or .45ACP. It’s possible that this might be the quietest handgun ever made. Watch today’s video from B&T HQ to find out why.
5 Reasons a 1911 is a Great Sidearm in the Apocalypse
Let’s do this! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is yet another apocalypse-themed article by yours truly. I will admit to you that while reviewing Springfield’s MIL-SPEC Defend Your Legacy 1911 I was bitten by the Browning bug and picked my side if need be. I have never had any desire to do a SHTF article, especially when other TFB writers do them so well so I just wanted to try something similar but different. Follow me down the rabbit hole and I will discuss five reasons a 1911 is a great sidearm in the apocalypse!
TFB Reader In France Uses 3D Printing To Modify An HK USC
TFB reader, Arnaud, from France, has used his industrial skills to modify an HK USC carbine with 3D printing. Rather than taking the American approach to modifying a USC to resemble an HK UMP, Arnaud chose to use a 3D printer to model the forearm, grip and stock partly after the Hera Arms aftermarket parts for the AR-15 pattern rifles. For those not wholly familiar with HK’s USC model, the factory grip and stock were not generally liked by the firearm community, especially when compared to the aesthetically pleasing folding stock of the UMP. The photo below is a stock HK USC from TFB’s Nick C’s post about the USC’s comeback.
NEW Magnum Research Warrior! Custom Desert Eagle Crusader 1911
Outlaw Ordnance and the Kahr Firearms Group have teamed up to bring the firearm industry some pretty gnarly custom pistols in the last couple of years, and they are at it again. Magnum Research has dropped their 2nd “Warrior Traditions” pistol with the unveiling of a Custom Desert Eagle Crusader 1911 chambered in .45 ACP which was professionally Cerakoted by none other than Outlaw Ordnance. This pistol is going to have an MSRP of $1,250 and allegedly only 50 firearms are going to be made. The complete specifications for the Crusader 1911 can be read below:
Wheelgun Wednesday: TFB Review Of The S&W 625 JM .45ACP Revolver
In this edition of TFB’s Wheelgun Wednesday, we’ll be reviewing the Smith & Wesson 625 JM in .45 ACP. Some may question why, in the year 2019, would someone want to shoot .45 ACP through a “six-gun” when you could shoot 7 to 13 of them through a semi-auto? Well, it’s kind of like how people use bicycles even though motorcycles exist… because it’s good for you. Okay, so it may not be the subject of a Men’s Health magazine article, but from a historical, entertaining, or perhaps even a defensive sense, it’s good for you. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the S&W 625 JM for a while, so I was holding back some giddiness when I picked it up from Mr. Guns gun shop and shooting range for the transfer. The S&W 625 JM revolver has its ups and downs, and I’m happy to be able to share my experience with you.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Sweet 60's Subgun or Knock-Off Thompson?
Welcome everyone to the 33rd edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Wheelgun Wednesday: Concealed Carry Conversion Of An M1917
Shortly after my previous Wheelgun Wednesday article went live, I received an email from Michael about his interesting conversion of an M1917 revolver. The famous .45 ACP revolver is getting plenty of attention right out of the gate with TFB’s Wheelgun Wednesdays. However, considering that the M1917 was designed over one hundred years ago, specifically to supplement the U.S. military’s supply of M1911 of all things, it seems worthy of some love.
Wheelgun Wednesday: Target Conversion Of A S&W M1917 Revolver
Welcome to another edition of our weekly Wheelgun Wednesdays! Since Pete’s announcement about adding Wheelgun Wednesdays, I was eager to find something unique. The subject of this Wednesday’s Wheelgunnery is unique, not earth-shattering, but something you don’t see every day. A member of AR15.com recently stumbled into an interesting trade for an accurized Smith & Wesson M1917 revolver. Sporterizing surplus firearms is certainly not unheard of, but it’s nice to see an example of a sporterized firearm in which care was taken to do it right, with a clear goal in mind. TFB FIELD STRIP: Colt Rail Gun With Wilson Combat Upgrades
When a firearm design is as old, and as popular, as the 1911, people are going to tinker with it to better suit it to their needs. This Colt Rail Gun is no exception. The Colt Rail Gun is the civilian version of the USMC’s M45. TFB’s Adam S. already covered the field strip for a standard 1911, but my friend Seth’s 1911 Colt Rail Gun has been upgraded enough to warrant another field strip to add to the TFB series. Seth added aftermarket parts from Wilson Combat and upgraded two stiffer springs to allow him to shoot .45 Super as well as .45 ACP. The compensator, 2-piece, full length guide rod, and shock buffer were all additions from Wilson Combat. The 24 pound recoil spring and upgraded trigger pin spring were from Wolff Gunsprings. The stiff 24 lb. spring and the 2-piece guide rod change the take down process and add a bit of sport as well. Let’s begin after this safety message:
TFB FIELD STRIP: GLOCK, All Models (-1)
The Glock pistol hardly needs an introduction. Its place in the pistol market has been firmly established over the last three decades between military, police and civilian usage. It’s been said that 65 percent of law enforcement agencies in the United States issue Glocks. I have carried three different Glocks through my career and I’ve been very satisfied with the accuracy, simplicity and ease of maintenance the Glock design provides. The aftermarket for Glock pistols is one of, if not the strongest for any one firearm. Even for the aftermarket guns that aren’t Glocks, they are still based on the simple Glock design.
Blast From The Past – The Colt Double Eagle
In the early 90s, the gun world was about as stable as dating a dancer named Tiffany you met at the gentleman’s club on a Tuesday night. In short, it was a roller coaster time for the industry and times were slowly changing. Colt was trying to keep up with the times and as a result, the Colt Double Eagle series was created. Colt started producing the Double Eagle series from 1989 until 1997 when they shut down the line due to falling sales.
