Taurus has introduced two new revolvers.

The Taurus Carbine CT G2 is a very nifty carbine that will be introduced into the US market this year. It is built from polymer lower (with build in magwell handguard) and aluminum lower. It has a 16″ barrel and is chambered in 9mm (34+1 capacity), .40 S&W (15+1 capacity) and .45 ACP (10+1). I really liked the feel of it. I can’t remember the pricing, it was somewhere around $700.

Ruger had finally sent out the press release with specifications for the Ruger SR40.

It has taken long enough, but finally the .40 S&W chambered version of the 9mm Ruger SR9 has arrived. Ruger has been shipping the SR40 to dealers during the past week. The one pictured below is being sold on GunBroker.

S&W has revealed that their winning entry into the recent BATFE competition was the M&P40 pistol. Not much surprise there, but it is nice to have it confirmed. From the press release …

Smith & Wesson has unveiled the new Model SD9 and Model SD40 pistols. These “new” guns are simply S&W Sigma Series pistols with some improvements and a new name. The improvements over the Sigma are improved trigger, tritium night front sight, rubber grip pads, better slide serrations and the a picatinny accessory rail.

The new Taurus 708 SLIM chambers the .380 ACP and has a capacity of 7+1. The Taurus 740 SLIM holds 6+1 rounds of .40 S&W. Both these new models will be available in black or two tone (black frame, stainless slide).

Taurus has merged their best features from the 800, 24/7 and OSS lines into the new Taurus G2 24/7 pistol. The polymer framed double action autoloader will be available in .45 ACP, .40 S&W and 9mm (judging by Taurus’s 2010 catalog, we may not see the 9mm version for a while yet).

Back in August (2009) the Department of Justice published their intention to purchase AR-15 carbines chambered in .40 S&W from Rock River Arms.

This Glock 22 (.40 S&W) blew up while firing reloaded ammunition.

The entire KRISS line is going to be available in .40 S&W later this year. Additionally, lower receivers will be sold so that a .45 model can be converted to .40 S&W. Like the .45 version, it also uses Glock magazines.

The 9mm Beretta 92FS and 96 have been updated for 2010. The new 92A1 and 96A1 feature

Earlier this year an H&K employee said in an interview that Heckler & Koch would launch a H&K P30 pistol chambered in .40 S&W in the fourth quarter. So far the pistol has not been seen.

Argentine gun maker Bersa, best known for their Bersa Thunder 380 pistol, will be entering the lucrative compact-plastic-fantastic pistol market next year with the BP9CC, chambered in 9mm, and the BP40CC, chambered in .40 S&W.
