Apex Ammunition is once again expanding its non-toxic ammunition lineup to stay ahead of the “sub gauge craze,” by introducing its new 28 gauge turkey load. This hard-hitting load combines 1 Oz of #10 tungsten shot with a half-oz of #9 shot.

We are in the middle of many waterfowl seasons throughout the US so Federal Premium has perfect timing to announce that they are expanding out their Black Cloud line of ammunition to include 28 Gauge. These Black Cloud 28 Gauge loads will come in 3″ shells with a ¾ Ounce payload of #3 or #4 shot.

The Beretta A400 Upland semi-auto shotgun is now available in 28 gauge, combining Beretta’s latest technologies with a classic look. According to Beretta, the new A400 Upland in 28 gauge manages everything from light loads to 3” magnum shotshells, so you can quickly switch ammunition depending on what you’re hunting, without sacrificing reliability. It’s possible to field-strip the A400 Upland without any tools. The price in the USA is $1,829 (MSRP).

Katanga Arms, a company from Ogden, Utah, makes a survival shotgun called Scout. The Katanga Arms Scout is a single barrel break action 28 gauge shotgun that has an extremely simple design. Pheasants better beware as Federal Ammunition have released new 16- and 28-gauge Federal Premium Prairie Storm ammo. The payload mix consists of 70 percent standard copper-plated lead and 30 percent FS Lead and according to the manufacturer, the patterning has been improved. Stevens by Savage Arms has announced the expansion of their 555 over-under shotguns with three new models. The new offerings are “compact” models designed for smaller shooters or those who prefer a shorter length of pull.

TriStar, known for their imported Turkish-made shotguns, has announced the expansion of their Over/Under shotgun line with offerings for smaller gauges. Originally released only in 12 Gauge, the Setter brand of shotguns is now available in both .410 and 28 Gauge.

Benelli was founded in 1967 and quickly built a reputation for designing and manufacturing well-made firearms. Their attention to detail and willingness to think outside the industry box has proven successful on more than one occasion, especially as of late, and now they’ve turned that attention to pheasant hunting. The Ethos is Benelli’s newest offering, but it is not just any 28-gauge shotgun. This shotgun takes 3″ shotshells.

The Weatherby SA-08 Entre Rios is a 28 gauge version of the SA-08 autoloader shotgun. The 28 gauge cartridge is popular in part because it allows the action to be scaled down, resulting in a lighter gun. Weatherby has scaled the SA-08 down to a weight of 5.25 lbs.

The much hyped “World’s Lightest Shotgun” was unveiled at SHOT Show. It is a Benelli Legacy scaled down to the 28 gauge cartridge and named the Legacy 28. The low weight has been achieved mainly because of the scaled-down action but also by the use of a low capacity magazine (2+1 compared with the Legacy standard 4+1) and use of a carbon fiber rib.
