Next year (2009) Weatherby will be selling two new additions to the Vanguard line.

Next year (2009) Savage will be selling a new “modular sniper system” called the Model 10 BAS (I have not worked out what the acronym stands for).

I try not to use words like “awesome” in the title for blog posts, so I substituted it with “game changing”. But don’t let that word change deceive you. I am *really* excited by this new stock coming out of Savage.

I did not expect this. Remington will be selling a new pump-action shotgun next year (2009) called the Model 887 NitroMag. The design is not based on the popular 870 and will not replace it.

In 2009 Mossberg will be selling a range of Mossberg 590A shotguns and accessories to the general public. The 590A is sturdier than the 500/590 and is the model generally sold to law enforcement and military. The 590 has a heavy barrel, metal trigger guard, metal safety and bayonet lug.

Last month the Croatian Ministry of Defense unveiled the final design of the VHS assault rifle (Višenamjenska Hrvatska Strojnica – Multifunctional Croatian Machinegun). The rifle has been in development for many years by Croatian manufacturer HS Produkt who are better known for their HS 2000 pistol ( sold as the Springfield Armory XD in the US).

Winchester announced their second .22 LR “Hyper Velocity” round. The Xpediter round has similar performance to the new non-toxic Winchester SUPER-X .22 Long Rifle. It pushes a 32 grain lead hollow point bullet at 1,640 fps.

Lead free ammunition is becoming popular. Or at least popular with manufactures.

Over the past four years TangoDown have been working with the Navy Special Warfare Command and the United States Special Operations Command on a new polymer M16/SCAR/AR-15 magazine called the ARC. Although the magazine prototypes have been around for a few years, the ARC is finally entering production and should be on sale in January 2009.

Next year (2009) Winchester Ammunition will be will be introducing the Winchester Super-X Power Max Bonded and the Winchester Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1.

Early next year North American Arms will be selling “The Earl”, a “five shot single action 1860’s-styled mini-revolver chambered in .22 Magnum”. The revolver is named after the gunsmith who developed it.

The Army Times reports that the H&K developed M320 will being replacing the M203 in February next year.
