HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Ultimate Masterkey or How About No?
Welcome everyone to the 174th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
Taiga Wolverine Folding Shotgun For The Canadian Market (18.5″ & 10″ Barrels)
Folding shotguns aren’t exactly new, but the Canadian firearms community has recently gained access to an infinitely more modern take on the concept with the Taiga Wolverine folding shotgun line. The Taiga Wolverine folding shotgun now comes in two sizes, “X” with an 18.5-inch barrel, and “M,” which stands for “mini” and will come with a 10-inch barrel. The Wolverine’s receiver is split into two segments and joined by a hinge on the front of the lower receiver, while the upper receiver houses the bolt, barrel and magazine assembly. The Wolverine X can reportedly fold to a length of 25 inches for easier storage, however, the Wolverine M is new enough that the specifications aren’t published at this time.

TFB Review: Genesis Arms Gen-12 – The 12ga AR-10
An AR-pattern firearm that shoots shotshells is sort of a holy grail for some. Many try making it but there is always some drawback or compromise. ATI had their Omni chambered in .410ga. But the true goal is an AR platform that shoots 12ga. Genesis Arms has achieved that goal with their Gen-12. They lent us a 10.5″ firearm version for this review.

TFB REVIEW: The Just Released Remington V3 TAC-13
In recent years the firearms industry has witnessed a boom in sales of Pistol Grip Firearms or PGFs. “Firearms”, as they are classified, like the Remington Model 870 Tac-14 and Mossberg Shockwave have left some gun owners scratching their heads. These specialty grip weapons are simply viewed as “firearms” or “non-shotgun shotguns” and have barrel lengths shorter than 18in.
TFB REVIEW: Detroit Ammunition 12 Gauge Subsonic
When you think of firearm suppressors and subsonic ammunition, I’m guessing that a 12 Gauge scattergun is the furthest thing from your mind. Reducing the report of a shotgun to acceptable levels is fraught with challenges. A gigantic bore diameter, wadding and shot cups, suppressor availability, barrel length considerations and limited ammo availability all weigh on the practicality of muffling the report of a shotgun. Luckily, companies like Detroit Ammunition have been coming up with options for shooters who want to take their 12ga blasters in a different direction.
