Straight-wall cartridges are getting a lot of press in recent years because our powers that be – in their infinite wisdom – believe that if a rifle casing is straight on its edge, that will be safer for everyone who is hunting in the surrounding area (I cannot believe we’re entertaining conversations like this, but I digress). For all of the people who hunt in more restrictive areas of the United States, Federal has some good news with additional Power-Shok 360 Buckhammer offerings.

It was just announced a few weeks ago that Federal Premium had debuted a new Copper Plated 1 Buck Home Defense/Field load of shotgun shells providing the dual purpose of being able to hunt game as well as defend. Now, Federal Premium is once again announced another selection with Power-Shok 1 Buck providing that same type of versatility.

The .350 Legend cartridge was only introduced 4 months ago at SHOT Show 2019 by Winchester, but it is already gaining a lot of momentum as a fan favorite for 2019. In many states, there are admittedly odd restrictions to the cartridges you can use for hunting. Numerous states only allow hunters to use straight-wall cartridges which can be very limiting. This has given rise to new cartridges (think .450 Bushmaster) and adaptations to different platforms (AR-15s chambered in straight-wall cartridges). Federal Premium has a host of new ammunition offerings to satisfy straight-wall cartridge fans with Power-Shok, Non-Typical and Fusion 350 Legend now available.

The .450 Bushmaster continues to grow in popularity throughout the country with more and more regions requiring that hunters use “straight-wall” cartridges. With those types of guidelines being set in place, Federal Premium like many companies is looking to serve the consumer with more options in the way of ammunition. They have three NEW offerings for .450 Bushmaster through their Non-Typical, Power-Shok, and Fusion lines of rifle ammo.

Federal Premium has always reserved their Power-Shok line of ammunition as an affordable entry point for hunters and target shooters. With numerous calibers to pick from in both new and old cartridges, it satisfies a need for a diverse range of hunters and weekend range warriors.

Federal introduced in mid-2016 a hybrid series of their staple Power-Shok featuring all copper bullets aptly named  Power-Shok Copper. Its initial release debuted 4 standard hunting cartridges: .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. Now Federal has added some heavy hitters with the .300 Winchester Magnum and .300 Winchester Short Magnum.

With restrictions in specific states or hunting areas, more hunters are in pursuit of ammunition that is lead-free. Federal is looking to dive into that market with their brand new offering of Lead-Free Power-Shok Copper ammunition.
