The Curious Case of the Colt All American 2000 – Part 1: History
Looking to add some variety to your gun collection? Well, look no further than the Colt All American 2000 – the gun that’s more American than apple pie and bald eagles combined! Okay, maybe not quite, but this quirky little pistol is definitely worth taking a closer look at. From its unconventional design to its reputation as one of the biggest commercial flops in firearm history, the Colt All American 2000 is an interesting piece from a time when the idea of carrying a polymer-framed handgun was just starting to get a foot in the door. At first glance, the All American 2000 might seem like just another polymer-framed 9mm, but it’s the unique features and story behind the gun’s development and release that really set it apart. For “The Curious Case of the Colt All American 2000 Part 1”, we’ll be taking a look at its history before we dive into a field review after I’ve had some more time to really test the handgun at the range.
UPDATE: Montenegrin TARA TM-9 Pistol
Several years ago we posted a couple of pictures of Montenegrin TARA TM-9 pistol. By revisiting the manufacturer’s website, I found more information released concerning this firearm, which I’ll present in this article.
The new Taurus T Series pistols
Brazil’s Forjas Taurus, following a particularly difficult year dealing with much publicized market/users complaints about safety/functioning aspects of some of its guns (pistols, mainly), appears to be entering 2017 with a serious commitment towards products quality. Other than simply updating its long-established bull logo, the company is in the process of undergoing wide changes in its organizational and industrial aspects, the later being the full transfer of its main Brazilian production facilities from Porto Alegre to São Leopoldo, both in the Rio Grande do Sul State.
Iranian Striker Fired Polymer Handgun Introduced
At a recent display of small arms and light weapons in Tehran, the Iranian defense industry showcased a number of new products, as reported by Fars News. Among the products on display, a certain handgun was shown that hasn’t been reported on previously. From the very little mention of it in the Farsi text, there isn’t much information that can be gathered from the article or elsewhere on the internet about the handgun. The right side appears to have “M9-02”, but that doesn’t tell us very much.
World's First Polymer Pistol was a Makarov!?
In this age of polymer-framed pistols, it is interesting to take a look at the history and find out where it all started. If you have served in the military or if you are a hunter, hiker, outdoorsman or just carry a gun on an everyday basis, you’ll agree that weight matters. When carrying a firearm for a long period of time you really understand how true is the saying of “ounces make pounds, pounds make pain”. From this perspective making firearms lighter without sacrificing their characteristics has always been a tough task for the designers.
Review: Modifying and Stippling a Glock
At the risk of starting a religious war, today I want to write about custom handgun modifications. I am of the mindset that once I have bought something, it is mine. I also believe that most things bought “off the shelf” are a great starting point, but rarely the final product I want to live with. That said, I like modifications to look “stock”, as if the product came from the factory that way.
Springfield XDs 4.0
Springfield Armory introduced the new XDs 4.0 to the Media Range day this year. The XDs 4.0 is an extended barrel version of the striker fired XDs 9mm released at last year’s SHOT Show. Still marketed towards the concealed carry audience, the XDs 4.0 has several dimension differences from the XDs 3.3 while still maintaining the sleek and compact features demanded of a concealed carry pistol.
