Glock G22 Gen5 acceptance tests in Brazil by PMESP: full videos
TFB has been given access (Courtesy: Alexandre Beraldi) to a whole series of videos showing the range of tests that the recently acquired .40 S&W Glock G22 Gen5 pistols were submitted to by PMESP – Polícia Militar do Estado de São Paulo (São Paulo State Military Police), in Brazil. Although the material comes in Portuguese, most of the events shown are, hopefully, self-explainable.
Sao Paulo Military Police Glock G22 Gen5 initial test setback
Following the recent arrival in Brazil of test samples of the .40 S&W Glock Gen5 pistol that emerged as the winner of a competition to supply 5,000 units to PMESP – Polícia Militar do Estado de São Paulo (São Paulo State Military Police), it has been disclosed that the very initial testing process, carried out on January 31, 2018, suffered a major setback. It just so happened that the 10 specimens at hand displayed dimensional discrepancies in the accessories rail of the lower frame. The Picatinny type (aka MIL-STD-1913) rail was a specific contract requirement, but a note signed by Major PM Marco Aurélio Valério, the PMESP officer in charge of the Technical Commission, says that all testing procedures were suspended until further, more detailed measurements are taken.
Glock .40 S&W Pistols Headed To Sao Paulo's Military Police
Since mid-2017, news has circulated in the local Brazilian media concerning the proposed acquisition of 5,000 .40 S&W pistols by PMESP – Polícia Militar do Estado de São Paulo (São Paulo State Military Police) as an initial step to start replacing the agency’s inventory of Taurus-made models in general use since the 1990s. The supply tender was particularly significant since it would be the first time that foreign companies were participating, other than the local Taurus and IMBEL concerns. By the end of 2017, competition had been narrowed to three models, the Beretta APX, the Glock G22 Gen4, and the Sig Sauer P320.
