Big ships, big guns as USS Thomas Hudner lets the machine guns go in our Photo Of The Day. In this series of images, we’re looking at the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer as it conducts a test of its weapons in the Atlantic Ocean, on March 4, 2023. At the time, Thomas Hudner was underway as part of the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group in the Atlantic Ocean executing its Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX), in an intense, multi-week exercise.

Today’s Photo Of The Day brings us back to the sea.

Today’s Photo Of The Day is an R2D2 look-alike that goes “ Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrttt“, as enemy objects close-in.

Phalanx Smart Holsters is a Florida based company that has been manufacturing a unique holster that locks a handgun into position via the slide of the handgun, and requires a sort of rocking movement to unlock and unholster the handgun. It also has a thumb locking lever that must be actuated for the handgun to be released from the holster. The premise behind the system is to create a holster that is difficult for folks not familiar with it to be able to draw the handgun from an LE officer but yet give that same officer the ability to draw his handgun quickly and employ it.

At 2013 SHOT we had reviewed the Phalanx.  John Rassias was back this year and I had a chance to stop by his booth for a quick chat.  The product has gotten some updates since then which definitely increase the versatility.
