Popularized across the globe by many different militaries, Tiger Stripe camouflage is starting to work its way into the growing civilian gear market. The Safariland Group has announced the introduction of some new limited edition Tiger Stripe camo holsters designed for modern handguns equipped with red dot optics. These new Tiger Stripe camo holsters will feature the same durable and high-quality Cordura fabric, and will also be available with compatibility for the ALS and SLS locking systems.

Outside the waistband holsters have lost a bit of popularity with the increasing use of micro-compact concealed carry pistols. However, for those that still need or want one, companies like Elite Survival Systems are still developing and producing new fits of retention holsters. Elite Survival Systems has just announced the introduction of their new CR Secure Auto-Locking Retention Holster for full-size pistols.

With Christmas right around the corner, it means wintertime for half the country is upon us. Being from Michigan, I understand the difference in clothing and what it means to switch over to a wintertime carry mindset. Having extra layers on your body definitely presents some challenges when carrying a concealed firearm on a daily basis. There are a few options people prefer in the winter months. Whether it’s changing your carry style or even changing your concealed firearm, there’s a number of things that people do during the winter months. Holsters are somewhat of a confusing topic for me. Not because I don’t know what I like or what to buy but because it seems like holsters tend not to follow the same rigid rules of quality and function that other guns and gear do in the firearms industry. I find that holsters are often popular with certain people mostly for personal preference rather than pure form or function. Of course, you have some holsters that are almost universally vilified for one or two silly reasons and then there are those that many will almost universally praise but a large majority of holsters out there are either favored or forgotten based on a weird combination of personal preference combined with largely the same features. I say all of this because today we’ll be featuring some of my personal favorite holsters. So let’s get jolly and look at some ho ho holsters!

During the winter months or for those who like to open carry on a regular basis, retention becomes much more important. Comp-Tac has just released their new CT3 Level III outside the waistband holster. This new addition to the Comp-Tac lineup features three levels of retention, a belt-mounted design, and allows a full grip on your handgun before fully withdrawing the firearm to present it. Comp-Tac also claims that the new CT3 features one of the fastest draws in the Level III holster market.

While wandering around Vendor Village during The Gathering at the Sawmill in South Carolina, I came across the 1791 Gunleather booth. What drew me to the booth was the big bucket of steaming water they had on their display table. To my surprise, they weren’t serving up refreshing warm drinks on that rainy Wednesday but instead, they were showcasing their OWB Ultra Custom holster – a kit sold so that you can form fit your own custom leather holster.

Looking for a quality holster on a budget? Uncle Mike’s have developed and added a new IWB/OWB holster (Inside- or Outside-the-Waistband) that will fit a wide range of “pocket rocket” handguns from SIG Sauer, Glock, Springfield and Smith & Wesson. Considering the record-breaking market in 2020 there should be some demand for new holsters as well.

Crossbreed Holsters has always come to SHOT Show with some pretty innovative carry designs over the years. Their most famous holster the Crossbreed Supertuck is a very basic and solid holster. However, the Hybrid ST2 holster followed up on that with some more options like the adjustability of the angle as well as retention adjustment.
