Gentex Updates Ops-Core FAST Bump Helmet
Gentex (Ops-Core’s Parent Company) has introduced an update to the FAST Bump Helmet. The most notable change is the removal of the molded shroud that was originally designed to accommodate airborne operations. Instead, it now features the same Lightweight Modular Bungee Shroud found on other helmets in the range. Additionally, the updated FAST Bump Helmet is equipped with PowerPath ARC Rails, allowing users to route cables behind the rail system, ensuring they are kept out of the way during use. These improvements enhance the versatility and functionality of the helmet for a wider range of users and operational needs. No weights have been given at this time and it will be interesting to see if these new helmets are lighter or heavier than the older models.

The SOTR was also designed to protect against Fentanyl. With the increasing risk of officers being exposed, the SOTR doubles up as protection from COVID threats and Fentanyl.

Noisefighter Gel Pad Installation
Gel cups can be a great accessory for hearing protection. Noisefighter was founded by Neal Brace, a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. Made in the USA, Noisefighter produces some very unique gel cups that are a welcome addition to most major brands and models. Not only is the gel extremely comfortable, but the cutouts on top allow for better comfort and seal when worn with eye protection. However, it is helpful to understand the installation process. Initial models of the Noisefighters came model specific, allowing the user to simply pop out a plastic insert with the old pads and snap in the new ones. For this article, we installed Noisefighters on a set of Howard Leights.

Ops Core XP Ballistic Helmet
Ops Core has long been known for their bump and ballistic helmets and was gracious enough to send me an XP Ballistic Fast Helmet for review. Also included was the new eye protection offering called the step-in visor.
Using Eye Protection Under Night Vision
In training courses and conversations with many other night vision users, there is often the question of eye protection. With night vision, is it really important to have eye protection on as well? Truly it depends on the situation, but in most scenarios eye pro is extremely important. We only have two eyes and it is less than pleasant to live the rest of your life as a pirate. The answer is highly correlated to the activities you will be engaging in.

Unity Tactical Knuckl Helmet Mount As GoPro Mount
I got a Unity Tactical Knuckl helmet mount so I could manage the side attachments on my helmet. The Knuckl Mount attaches to either Ops Core, Team Wendy, and Crye Precision rails. Most people utilize the Contour action camera and the Knuckl mount has a dedicated attachment point for the Contour.
