The new BCM MK2 Upper is the latest offering in firearms technology from Bravo Company Manufacturing. This new, optics and suppressor minded upper receiver seeks help shore up some of the inherent weaknesses of the standard AR platform.

SIG Sauer has been busy adding to their line up of new products especially in the optics section. SIG has been taking on various parts of the firearm and accessory market in the last couple years and this year there are a few more additions to the line up.

I, for one, have enjoyed watching the civilian market develop “tactical” products. Often, the innovations are brilliant – look at the ultra-lightweight pouches for vests and M-LOK as examples of civilian organizations putting their best foot forward. On the other side, we get things like the tactical nuts vertical foregrip. I guess one just has to take the good with the bad.

MTM has released a product for when all of us have access to a field like Mr. Guns & Gear and perhaps something ideal for him. Where Mr. GnG has always been shooting off of his bags (and now recently, having updated to some rests), often we could stand to see him behind a table instead of just behind that awesome and obligatory gas mask nodding shot.

TANDEMKROSS or [TK] has announced and released its latest products for the Glock. Primarily known for their .22LR rimfire upgrades the new products from [TK] come has a surprise, especially considering their function. Where [TK] normally offers compensators and misc accessories, the new products are race-gun oriented. Specifically, the two new products are the “Halo” charging ring and the “Accelerator” thumb ledge.

While gunpowder more than gets the job done in most cases, its often possible that simple compressed gas can as well. Being fortunate to have reviewed multiple air rifles, I can attest that for certain circumstances (like anything one might shoot with a .22 LR), that they are excellent options for hunting, training, or legal compliance. Many cities do not allow firearms discharges within city limits, so air rifles are great to get around the rule.

Announced at the NRA show earlier this year, Kahr Arms of Greeley, Pennsylvania is shipping their “S-Series” of 9mm handguns. The new series of handguns features a variety of welcome updates to Kahr’s reputable line of handguns. In fact, our own James Reeves has proclaimed the Kahr CM9 his “favorite 9mm ccw pistol.”

There are few things better than splatter targets at the range. While high-magnification spotting scopes can help with shot identification at shorter ranges, trying to group a rifle at extended range can be a bit of a chore unless there is some help. Yes, modern electronic cameras and wi-fi equipped tables are quickly becoming the norm – its an expensive norm. The splatter targets are thus the perfect low-cost solution.

Known for their triggers, handguards, and a variety of other high-speed products, Geissele has been a long-time favorite of the special operations community. With their SSF (Super Select Fire) trigger being in many a firearm, the company has been expanding their offerings based on feedback from those Tier-1 units.

Axelson Tactical, the company started to honor fallen Navy SEAL Matt “Axe” Axelson has been operating as SEALs do – quietly and effectively. Following Axe’s tradition, Axelson has been quickly moving into various markets in short order, production products beloved by their customers. Keeping it quiet, Axelson has released their Suppressors to the market.

Steiner Optics was at the NRA Show in a big way, featuring their latest and brand new updates to the DBAL laser light combination units. At the show, they showcased two new models for handguns, the DBAL-PL v2, SBAL-PL v2.

Cleaning the barrel of a rifle is perhaps the most tedious of operations, at least if trying to completely clean out the entirely of fouling carbon and copper. Fortunately, most shooters recognize that this level of cleaning is typically only needed by bench rest shooters (and annoying for me early in life – military armorers) which has led to a plethora of easy-clean solutions.

To me, the only major and glaring design issue behind the AR-15 and similar two-receiver designs is the interface between the two receivers. By using only two pins and having variable tolerance between them for mass-manufacturing inevitably leads to excessive slop. This is compounded by the choices in materials as steel rubs on aluminum receivers (but that is another issue entirely).

STI, known for their high-end 1911s, has announced another high-end 1911, the DVC Tactical and DVC Carry. The new handguns take features of their popular competition-oriented DVC line and applies them to a standard length slide, adding in “tactical” features.

Operators Suppressors Systems LLC, commonly known as OSS, has announced the release of their two latest entries to their HELIX line of cans, the HX 556 and HX 762. The new cans are direct-mount self-tightening featuring OSS’s “Flow-Through” technologies. The HELIX series is full-auto rated.
