Winchester, known recently for their large slew of ammunition, and of bygone years as a premier designer and manufacturer of arms has been getting back into the firearms business. Winchester Repeating Arms, the firearms division of Winchster has announced the release of their latest rifle versions, the XPR Hunter.

Atibal, known for their affordably priced optics, has released yet another reasonably priced optic. Working to chip away at the pricing of the growing 1-8x market, Atibal has released their new XP8 1-8×24 scope.

I, for one, am a huge fan of offset sights for rifles with magnified optics. For SPR type platforms where the minimum magnification on optcs can be 9x or larger, the offset sights are a great option for close-in work when needed. Competition shooters have likewise embraced them, especially in action shooting sports where the option to use irons for near targets and not having to take the time to change magnification for longer shorts results in saved precious seconds.

Magpul, deciding to innovate again, has announced the Hunter 700L Stock is now shipping. The new offering brings many of the features of the fantastic Hunter 700 stock for those wishing to shoot long and magnum cartridges.

SureFire, LLC known for their world-class lights, suppressors, and various accessories, has announced the release of their latest lighting product, the FirePak. The FirePak is designed to pair with one’s cell phone and provide illumination to “…shoot vibrant, high-definition video with your smart phone in low-light situations, something never before possible.”

Withing the cut-throat competitive world of F-Class shooters, there exists a sub-class dedicated for the two common military calibers, .223 Remington / 5.56 NATO and .308 Winchester. F-TR, which stands for “F-Class, Tactical Rifle”. F-TR tends to stretch the legs of both calibers, typically taking them well past their “normal” transonic ranges, which has led to a bit of a proverbial arms race.

I love the concept behind The Mako Group’s Meprolight FT Bullseye Micro Optic. In short, its a single sight/optic for a handgun that completely removes the front sight from the handgun and instead replaces it with a an interesting bullseye apparatus that supposedly removes the need for the front sight.

XTECH, known for ATG “Adjustable Tactical Grip” has announced the availability of their VP9 / P30 magazine extension. The new extension, dubbed the “MTX” adds 5 rounds to the total base capacity of 15 for a total of 20 rounds of sweet extended magazine goodness.

Not content to dominate the exterior of Stoner-based modern sporting rifles, MagPul has decided to hop into them as well. Where previous accessories were limited to handguards, magazines, grips, etc. Magpul has gone full-tilt integrating itself with the rear-end of the rifle. On top of their recent announcement of magazine extension tubes, Magpul has released buffers, recoil springs, & receiver extension mounting hardware.

L3, parent company of EOTech, also has quite a few successful brands of products that the warfighter can depend on. One of their most well-known products us the Insight AN/PEQ-15 laser designator system also known as the ATPIAL, which has been popular with special forces and various Tier 1 groups.

Magpul…. you tease. Released on their website without much of an ado are details on the upcoming sub-compact magazine for 9mm Glock handguns. Dubbed the PMAG12 GL 9, the magazine is ready-made for the Glock 26 handgun, adding an additional two rounds of capacity.

The Glock 43 and other single-stack “micro” 9mm handguns are all the rage, and for good reason. They are small, concealable, and pack a pretty good punch all things considered. Even our own James Reeves loves his Kahr handguns and yours truly typically carries a 9mm Glock 43 on a daily basis.

Many American shooters are not familiar with the VZ-58 platform, a striker-fired Czech service rifle that has only been recently replaced by the Bren. It is often confused with the AK based on its exterior looks, but its a much different weapon, being strike-fired, short-stroke piston operated, and with last-round bolt open among other changes and improvements.

One of the biggest challenges for ranges is dealing with lead. While individual shots and rounds are tiny, the sheer amount of shots over time creates a unique challenge for air and ground. To avoid this, many ranges are moving towards lead-free loadings where possible, but progress has been slow due to few low-cost lead-free loadings.

The shooting world was abuzz earlier this year when the Civilian Marksmanship Program finally got with the times updated its rules to allow the use of lightly magnified optics within its Service Rifle division, bringing the CMP in line with current service rifles used by the various armed services. Specifically, this rules change was to allow the Trijicon ACOG as used by the United States Marine Corps.
