Zev, known for their high-end Glock offerings, is pushing ahead with new products for new platforms. Having become one of the star players in the de-facto handgun completely customizable platform, they are turning their attention on another completely customizable platform, the AR-15.

For me, one of the most annoying things in building a new rifle was the choice of where to mount my tape switch for a light. Top dead center is ambidextrous, but is usually set farther back than I like. Mounting on a vertical grip is less than ideal, on one side, difficult to actuate from the opposite, etc. I can only imagine trying to mount two separate tape switches on a rifle being more aggravating.

Named as “A dramatic and wide-reaching change in conditions, attitudes, or operation”, Mark 7 Reloading has started showing their forthcoming Mark 7 Revolution reloading stand. Known for their Dillon 1050 and 650 electronic drives, the Revolution is Mark 7’s first foray into their own reloading machine, and it’s not a small jump. Mark 7 touts the machine can load up to 3,500 rounds in one hour.

While I will contend that one never needs to dimple for a gas block, I will respect those who choose to do so. I believe in freedom and if you want an unneeded, unnecessary step added to the construction of your boomstick, who am I to judge?

Meprolight, manufacturers of various sighting systems including the innovative Bullseye handgun sighting system, have announced the release of their own flip-to-side magnifier for red-dot and similar 1x optics. The new MX3-F includes a flip to side mount with the magnifier that includes a Q/D rail interface for quick donning and doffing of the magnifier when not in use.

The Glock has quickly become the “AR-15” of the handgun world. Over the last few years, and especially this last year, companies have been flocking to offer products for the platform including slides, barrels, triggers, frames, and magazines. Perhaps most pronounced this year from SHOT is the additional companies getting into the Glock magazine game, this time including Jagemann.

Kinetic Development Group, known for their excellent assortment of innovative Q/D accessories and pushing the envelope on SCAR weapons manipulation, has updated their Sidelok system to now be compatible with standard scoped rifles. Named the Modular Optic Mount, the new system is exactly that, modular, compatible with 1″, 30mm, and 34mm optics.

Savage has been on quite a roll lately. They have teased us about the upcoming MSR-15 and MSR-10 rifles with a slick YouTube video, they announced the cool new A-Series rimfire auto-loaders and the Savage Stealth centerfire chassis rifles announced last October are shipping.

Having spent a fair amount of time encumbered (yet appreciative) in full battle-rattle, I can say that full armor, especially full military body armor is hot. The coverage required to keep one safe from high-velocity fragmentation also keeps the body from being able to exhaust heat in its normal ways. I can remember vividly, taking armor off with salt lines all over my utilities from where armor coverage met air.

Beretta, the manufacturer of the US military M9 handgun, has finally released its “G” series decocker only kit for the M9 and M92/96 series handguns. The kit, which removes the safety/decocker function of the standard handgun, swapping the slide-mounted levers for decocking only function.

I, and many others, love subcompact handguns for every day carry and self-defense. Their uber-small size allows them to be concealed when other weapons may risk printing or exposure. However, the Glock 26 has always been a bit of a problem for me, as I rationally or irrationally need my pinky finger on a gun. The stock magazines have always been a bit short.

ZEV Technologies, known for their plethora of attractive and high-end Glock accessories, has released yet another attractive and high-end Glock accessory, this time turning their machining expertise to magazine extensions for OEM Glock magazines. ZEV had previously released a magazine extension for Magpul’s GL9 series of magazine which is potentially a moot product, as Magpul released a 21 round version just a bit ago.

While the AR-15 has been quick to embrace what many perceive as significantly improved ergonomics of extended rails many legacy platforms and even a few new ones have opted to keep their handguards short. Certainly, no one can argue that a short handguard is ineffective considering the uber-short option on most AK’s, one can argue increased effectiveness with longer rails.

Q/D cups all are the rage right now for slinging around one’s weapon systems. The common circular push-buttons are convenient, easy to use, and highly modular as they can be easily mounted to many places on modern weapons. However, they are limited by that reliance on new parts and likewise, require a new sling. So what happens for those who already have older-style slings?
