SILENCER SATURDAY #315: Flash Hiding With the SureFire RC3 Suppressor
Good evening everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the brand new YHM 338 Bad Larry Suppressor. Last week we jumped in the Delorean, put on our new AR googles, rubbed the crystal ball, or whatever future-predictors do and took some educated guesses at the next 20 years of silencers. This week, with the groundhog giving us a bit of a Spring preview, we get back out on the range to test the flash hiding capabilities of the SureFire RC3 suppressor. After the sun starts to drop behind the trees, I’ll be back with some results.

Dead Air Silencers Loves Fire: Pyro 2.0 Enhanced Muzzle Brake
Reducing your signature can be very important in a gunfight. Concealing your position can keep you alive. However, depending on your circumstances, the signature reduction could be less important than reducing recoil. Muzzle brakes excel in recoil reduction (with the tradeoff of increased sound, typically). Dead Air Silencers produces some very high-quality muzzle devices. The newest to hit their catalog of goodies is a muzzle brake, and it’s fire. This is the new Pyro 2.0 Enhanced Muzzle Brake from Dead Air Silencers.

TFB Review: Ultradyne Apollo Max .223/5.56 Muzzle Brake
As someone who generally is disinterested in the newest and coolest tacticool whatsa-whosits, I have to admit to you that I was surprised to pick up anything with the intention of improving my AR15 or making my shooting experience more enjoyable with one. The item in question today is the Ultadyne Apollo Max .223/5.56 Muzzle Brake. If you have not heard of Ultradyne, they are an American company with American made products in the form of firearm accessories such as sights, muzzle devices, and combinations of the two. With today’s subject being the Apollo Max Muzzle Brake, I should mention what makes it unique…it reduces recoil far better than other muzzle brakes I have been around and that can benefit the user in multiple ways. Let us dive right into a review on the Ultradyne Apollo Max .223/5.56 Muzzle Brake!

[SHOT 2020] Armaspec – Rifter Linear Muzzle Brake
Armaspec is known for its recoil management systems, especially their Stealth Recoil Spring. They also manufacture a variety of other AR products, including magwells, safety selectors (ambidextrous of course), extended mag releases, and so on. Today, at SHOT 2020 Armaspec’s booth was showing off their brand new Rifter Linear Muzzle Brake. Through the use of internal channels, the sound moves forward, away from the shooter. Importantly, it also sends the sound and concussion away from anyone standing off to the side. The ports on the top of the shield control the gas and help to both mitigate muzzle rise. Additionally, they direct recoil back toward the shooter. Gasses move through the aforementioned interior channels in order to delay their expulsion.

Currently, there are two models of X-Series muzzle brakes available – RRD-2C X12 and RRD-2C X37. Let’s take a brief look at each of them.
