Action Target is well known in the military and law enforcement worlds for manufacturing and supplying some of the best and most technologically advanced target range training systems on the planet.  Action Target builds ranges for our nation’s special forces and also for military units from allied nations. They have a pretty impressive clientele.  That being said, they also make static and reactive targets for the person looking to do backyard plinking with their kids.

Australian-based Marathon Targets has been quietly changing the scene in the past several years when it comes to making live fire ranges much more realistic and dynamic by using autonomous moving target systems. The systems are starting to see use all around the world, from the Marine Corps in the United States, Australian infantry marksmanship programs, and even are expanding into the Middle East with some of the Gulf countries.

Michigan based Pratt & Miller Defense recently updated their Trackless Moving Targets- Infantry variant this year for I/ITSEC 2017. The company makes 4×4 vehicles (with targets mounted on them) that move autonomously on a training ground and react to fire. Right now it appears that the company has human-sized targets and full vehicle shaped ones but ideally as long as it can fit on the chassis, the vehicle could probably work with the target. The company is trying to create a solution for the infantry wherein it resembles a more realistic battlefield instead of stationary Ivan targets that mechanically drop down when hit.

MGM Target Sytems is releasing a new Pay to Play system that allows ranges to invest in the technology and infrastructure and charge shooters for blocks of time.  The system would be set up on with a credit card processing station that would charge the shooters credit card on the spot allowing for it to be used nearly autonomously.
