Officially opened on June 18th, 1977, and fulfilling orders for shooters, hunters, and outdoorsmen all across the nation ever since, MidwayUSA celebrates 45 years in business. Based in Columbia Missouri, MidwayUSA started out as just another small gunshop in a small 1,600-square-foot building and has grown to become one of the biggest names in the firearms, ammunition, and parts supply industry. MidwayUSA celebrates this 45-year anniversary by extending a heartfelt thank you to its customers.

Midway USA recently announced that they’ve purchased a large lot of M1 Carbines, which is great news for people that are still looking to get their hands on a genuine World War 2 production model. Some of you may recall that last year, a batch from Ethiopia was in the importation process, however this lot, according to Midway USA is coming from Italy, with evidence that they were in the European Theater, and stored since the 1950s.

Midway USA added two new options to its own line of tactical backpacks. The new Alpha and Delta join the company’s existing Bravo to offer a range of gear carrying options.

Expanding from the gunsmithing videos that make gunsmithing look easy, Larry Potterfield is back as the star in his own company’s interview. The topic is the “Nearly Perfect” Safari Rifle and Larry goes into detail on the selection and smithing of his own Nearly Perfect rifle. Interestingly, he chose the action simply as he was most familiar with the Remington actions.

There is some shooting gear that just doesn’t receive the attention and press it deserves, and the shooting mat is one such product. It may not be exciting but it’s extremely useful; if you have ever found yourself without one when one was needed then you know just how useful they can be. Whether you’re shooting prone at the range or hunting prone in a field, a good mat is a must-have.

Okay, I admit it, I have become addicted to MidwayUSA’s gunsmithing videos and just had to share another one (for now, more to come later). In this one, Midway USA’s own Larry Potterfield breaks down drilling and re-lining a .22LR barrel using a custom blank. He makes it look easy. Outside of the lathe, everything he shows in the video is (of course) offered at Midway.

Colt-branded 5.56 NATO ammo is being manufactured by Black Hills Ammunition and sold through Midway USA according to a recent announcement.  Colt Manufacturing issued a press release stating that the new ammo “…is specifically tuned for Colt tactical and competition rifles.”
