TFB Review: Meprolight MPO-S Micro Red Dot Sight
Meprolight recently introduced two red dot sights, the MPO-S and MPO-F, both of which are open emitter sights. While I haven’t seen any official word on the “S” and “F” designations, I correlate them to “small” and “full size” (RMR footprint). Meprolight sent me both full-featured MPO sights to test out, but today we’ll focus on the Meprolight MPO-S, which features the RMSc footprint, side loading battery, three reticles, shake-awake, and an aluminum housing.
No Batteries No Problem – Ruger's New ReadyDot Micro Reflex Optic
The latest entry into the micro-red dot category of carry optics has just hit the scene, this time from Ruger. Ruger is proud to announce their new ReadyDot Micro Reflex Optic. The ReadyDot will use the Shield RMSc footprint which is common to the micro-compact 9mm category of firearms. What’s really interesting and unique about the Ruger offering is that it features no windage or elevation adjustments, a 15 MOA dot, and also uses no battery to power its dot. Instead, the Ruger ReadyDot relies on a fiber optic system similar to some prism optics to generate a visible dot that auto-adjusts based on ambient lighting.
Reptilia 34mm ROF-90 Mount for Red Dot Micros
If you’re not yet running a secondary red dot sight on your long-range rifle, then you should definitely look at doing so. I use mine mainly for going from one target to another, and the further apart they are in side or height the more time you will save on the transition. Once the red dot is close enough to your target, you can just drop your eye into that sweet high-magnification of your main optic, and prepare the shot. Reptilia now has another drop-in upgrade for their AUS Mount, or the Geissele Super Precision 34mm optic mounts called ROF-90. The mount is machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum and anodized in two different colors. The interface works with a number of optics from Aimpoint, SIG Sauer, Vortex, Primary Arms and Holosun.
Optics Ready Beretta 92 Slides In The Works From Volker Precision
Volker Precision recently announced that they’ve been working on a project to manufacture Beretta 92 slides that are “optics ready,” and allow for the lowest possible mounting platform for micro red dot optics. Volker Precision has already been producing Glock 19 slide blanks, and their first venture into the Beretta 92 market was a straight trigger. It appears that the new Volker Precision Beretta 92 Slides are still being sorted out in CAD drawings, so no word yet on pricing and when they’ll be available.
Lucid Optics Unveils New Version Of Their M7 Micro Red Dot Sight
Lucid Optics announced a revised version of their M7 Micro Red Dot sight, which will replace its predecessor on Lucid’s red dot lineup. They’ve made a few major changes to the M7 Micro Red Dot sight, to include a modular mounting system and a different battery to power the M7. The previous version had been powered by a single AAA battery, while the newer version utilizes a CR2032 battery. Something completely missing from the new version of the M7 is an automatic brightness setting for the reticle. Lucid Optics’ full press release can be seen below:
TFB Review: NEW SIG Sauer ROMEOZero Micro Red Dot
The firearms industry as of late continues to shift and morph in unique directions. We want smaller carry guns that carry more rounds and are as accurate as our full-size pistols. This postured idea might seem improbable, but not impossible. That burning question gave birth to the SIG Sauer P365, and most recently the upgraded and enlarged P365XL. A similar desire shooters have wanted is a micro red dot for conceal carry pistols that retains all the goodness of a normal size red dot. Que the folks at SIG Sauer confidently exclaiming hold my beer! SIG Sauer has once again accomplished the improbable, and now proven not impossible task, of a micro red dot that is less than 1″ wide with the ROMEOZero Micro Red Dot stepping out from the shadows!
