What is the SIG MCX RSAR? (New SOCOM PDW)

SIG Sauer was recently awarded a 5-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract valued at $5 million to provide the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) with a new Reduced Signature Assault Rifle. The RSAR is essentially the MCX Rattler in .300BLK but with a slightly longer barrel, different gas system, and packaged with a SIG SL-series suppressor, making this, perhaps, the ultimate PDW. The search for a weapon to fit the RSAR requirement has been ongoing since 2017. SOCOM describes the RSAR as a ‘PDW system [which] will allow Operators to have maximum firepower in a concealable weapon.’

Concealed Carry Corner: The Rise Of PDWs For Personal Protection

The world of concealed carry firearms has drastically changed from where it was 10-15 years ago. The endless amounts of firearm options to carry has become mind-boggling and the overall quality, as well as reliability, have gone up. In terms of innovation when it comes to carrying capacity and overall size, we have grown lightyears in the last twenty years. We can talk about innovations and changes all day long, but most people don’t talk about how the carrying world has changed as well. People are now arming up and carrying not only handguns but also PDW-style firearms and sometimes even soft body armor panels for added protection. This new trend has become a rather polarizing topic among various groups in the gun community, but regardless of your stance, it’s definitely happening and important to talk about even if it’s just to be aware of what’s going on. Let’s take a closer look at the rise of PDWs for personal protection.

TFB REVIEW: The New SIG Rattler Canebrake

Multiple variants of SIG’s widely successful MCX Rattler were brought to this year’s SHOT Show.  SIG seems keen to show off the versatility of the Ratter platform. Of the new Rattlers, one particular variant caught my eye, the Rattler Canebrake.  Featuring a new oversized rail with a faux suppressor tucked underneath, the Canebrake looks like a proper “SD” style firearm.  SIG even took it a step further, making the weight and size of the faux suppressor roughly the same as their SRD762 suppressor.  All of this is done perfectly to make the rattler both suppressor and end-user friendly.

SB Tactical FS 1913 Pistol Brace Review

SB Tactical is one of those innovative and forward-thinking companies around the gun industry in my opinion.
