Marlin 1895 GSBL
Marlin has been making lever-action rifles since 1881, and in their early years the Model 1895 was a standout. Although the original M1895 was, indeed, created in the year of its name, the modern M1895 is actually based on the receiver of their Model 336 – made in 1948 – and the lever action mechanism of the Model 444, which came out in 1965. Today we have the Model 1895 GSBL, which is a lever-action rifle being made with the expectation of improved performance and an aesthetically pleasing finish as well.
Badger M22 Marlin .22LR Stock
As a Marlin 795 fan I’m always on the hunt for new accessories for it. I recently stumbled on this bullpup kit called the Badger M22 stock for the Marlin 795, Model 60 and Model 70 Papoose. Available in black, green camo and pink camo, the M22 is made of ABS plastic in the USA. The stock features a Picatinny rail on the side for accessories such as lasers or lights as well as a storage compartment in the buttstock. You can also store a spare 795 mag in the handle grip. They retail for $99.99 for the black stock, and $115 for the pink and green camo stocks. They also sell a scope mount for $20 that moves the scope position forward of the receiver. Check them out at Badgerm22.com. Below is an installation instructional video that shows the features of the M22 stock.

The 1 Pound Pack-Rifle (And Fishing Pole!)
A pack rifle is a rifle small enough to be carried in a backpack. They are generally chambered in small caliber cartridges, such as the .22 LR or .410 shot shell, and are used for hunting, survival and plinking. The Marlin Papoose is an example of a pack gun (notably a favorite of Tam and Andrew). My pack rifle is a SBR (12″ barrel) Ruger 10/22. To carry it in a pack I remove the stock, cutting down the overall length by a few inches. Neither a disassembled Ruger or Marlin Papoose can come close to the compact and almost gravity-defying light weight of Mountain View Machine & Welding’s Pack-Rifle.

Marlin Papoose Review
I was surprised to learn that despite reviewing everything from expensive shotguns to high-end AR-15 rifles, Andrews favorite gun is the humble Marlin Papoose takedown .22 rifle.
Young Manufacturing Bullpup .22 LR Marlin Model 795
Young Manufacturing’s bullpup conversion of the .22 LR Marlin Model 795 was on display at SHOT Show. It is a neat looking gun. It does not try to emulate a fancy bullpup like the FN2000 or Tavor, but instead is minimalist and slick.
Marlin XT-22 and XT-17
While tactical guns, and guns that look like tactical guns, are the sexist segment of the firearm market right now, the 10s of 1000s of new shooters each year don’t start out with a top-self, pimped-out and very expensive AR-15 rifles. They start out with the humble .22. I am pleased to see that Marlin, with their new XT-22 and XT-17 line of rimfire rifles, have not lost sight of this.

Marlin XS7 (Short action XL7)
Earlier this year Marlin introduced the value-for-money XL7 rifle cambered in 25-06, 270 and 30-06. I thought it was odd that they did not offer a short action version. John Snow reports that a short action version will be available shortly in .248, .308 and 7mm-08.
