Lyman(R) Products Voluntarily Issues Recall on Black Powder Rifles and Pistols
Lyman® Products has voluntarily announced a product safety warning and recall notice on their black powder rifles and pistols due to the potential of separation in the breech plug. Lyman maintains a safety-first approach, so despite finding only a few firearms affected and no reported injuries, Lyman is offering a recall program to have the issue corrected. Lyman regrets the inconvenience but remains committed to the safety of their customers.
[SHOT 2018] New from Lyman, Brass Catchers, Snap Caps, and Reloading Presses
Lyman has released a number of new products this year, but we’ll only be able to get to a few of them that really stand out. First off is the company’s new reloading line, branded in bright orange. In order of weight, they are the Brass Smith Ideal C-Frame Press, the Brass Smith Victory Single Stage Press, and the Brass Smith All-American 8 Turret Press.
Lyman's New Brass Smith Ideal Single Stage Press
Lyman Products announced a new single stage loading press that is designed to offer good performance in a compact package. The press is called the Brass Smith Ideal.
Lyman Introduces the GuardianGrip for Small Frame Revolvers
One of the most popular concealed carry handguns remains the small frame revolver. Diminutive wheelguns have been a top choice for decades, with the J-frame Smith & Wesson guns being some of the most popular.
The Bag Jack from Lyman
Lyman’s got a new product that is designed to help you when shooting from a bench; it is called the Bag Jack. In simple terms, it is a scissor jack platform that can be used to raise your front bag rest. This allows you to get the perfect height for the rifle you are using regardless of how tall your bags are. If you’ve ever been at the range trying to get a bag rest at just the right elevation by using a second bag or backpack to stack the first on – well, I suspect you know what I’m talking about.
Lyman Target System changes Targets for you!
Lyman introduced this product at SHOT 2016, but I’m not sure how we didn’t get around to covering such an innovative product. The Lyman Auto Advance Target System is a target holder that incorporates a roll of targets, like a scroll. When activated from a firing line, the target system pushes the roll down, showing a brand new, un-shot target. The previously shot target is rolled into the bottom roll. Activation is controlled by a handheld wireless switch. The entire system has holes in the feet that can be staked down into the ground for a windy day. Essentially the system is designed for shooting over long distance, where the need to expedite a range session is readily apparent, thus removing the need to walk down range in between shooting sessions. They are currently available on Amazon for $190. Target rolls are $16.
Lyman's 50th Edition Reloading Handbook
Lyman Products Corporation has been in the reloading business for a long time. The company offers a wide range of tools and accessories including handbooks on reloading and casting. Now, they have released the 50th Edition of its Reloading Handbook.
New Media Separator From Lyman
There are many benefits to reloading from saving money to the ability to customize your loads, and if you’re a reloader you probably have quite a setup devoted to the process. After all, attention to detail is a vital part of reloading ammunition. We’ve all seen the disastrous results of reloads gone wrong: gun barrels peeled like bananas, catastrophic failures, and the list goes on. That’s why it’s important to make sure you have the necessary tools, follow SAAMI guidelines, and, above all, pay attention to what you’re doing when you’re reloading.
New M4 Ruger 10/22 Stock and Takedown Colors
Lyman has come out with new color options for fans of the M4 Ruger 10/22 and Takedown. The new colors are based on their STON camo pattern and range from the earth tones of Coyote to the unmistakable reds of Lava. With this wide range of options they have something for everyone.
Lyman Ammo Tracker Chronograph
Lyman Products will introduce a new chronograph in May. The new Ammo Tracker chronograph will offer a user-friendly remote interface that (I hope) will set a new standard.
Lyman TS-1200
Lyman Products is now selling a new ultrasonic case cleaner called the Turbo Sonic 1200 (or TS-1200 for short.) The unit is considered a mid-size cleaner with a 6.5″x5.4″x2.6″ tank. According to Lyman, the tank will hold about 350 9mm cases.
Lyman 1878 Sharps Rifle
Lyman Products is selling a reproduction of the 1877 model Sharps rifle mated with the Lyman tang sight to create a gun they call the 1878 Sharps rifle. This specific tang sight was introduced in 1878, hence the gun’s name. The guns are made to Lyman specifications by Pedersoli.
New Lyman Gun Mat
Lyman is making a new mat designed to make cleaning or working on your gun a bit easier. Safe to say we’ve all had a spring roll away or a small part slide to parts unknown, and the company’s new gun mat is designed to stop those things from happening. The mat has designated sections for various parts, and each section is very slightly recessed with the intention of preventing parts from moving around excessively.
Lyman Mag 25 Lead Melting Furnace
If you cast your own bullets, Lyman introduced a new lead melting furnace earlier this year that may be of interest to you. The Mag 25 offers two improvements over prior models: digital temperature controls and a greater capacity.
