A lot of you here on TFB have closely followed various court cases over the years as we’ve reported them to you. In recent memory, there have been lawsuits between optics companies, and firearms manufacturers alike. Recently the TFB Podcast was reached out to by our guest today Mr. Dan Evans who not only reads TFB but has a particular interest in these specific topics – because it’s literally his job. Dan is an attorney who works for an Intellectual Property law firm and today he’s here to help walk us through the intricacies of patents and give us some insight as to how, and why various companies may want to sue one another over any alleged intellectual property violations. Griffin Armament Sued Over SR-RIGID Rail Series By Patriot Ordnance Factory

In a recent legal action against Griffin Armament (Hearing Protection LLC), Patriot Ordnance Factory (POF) has asserted that the Griffin Armament SR-RIGID barrel nut design infringes on POF’s  heat sink barrel nut patent which has similar design characteristics to the 1928 Thompson Machine gun barrel. In a press release provided to us by Griffin Armament, the company explains that they feel that the litigation against them is meritless and also unfairly reduces free-market competition. Prime Ammunition and RUAG end litigation

Back in April TFB covered the developing story between PRIME Ammunition and RUAG Ammotec. At that time this writer had had a lengthy discussion with the CEO of  PRIME and determined the issues presented were complicated and would likely not be resolved quickly.  Fortunately, for both parties, proceedings did not drag on as long as anticipated.
