The Henry brand has been synonymous with fine lever-action rifles since the days of the Wild West. As cartridges developed into a viable upgrade from older powder-and-ball ammunition during the middle of the 19th century, the need for quality firearms able to use these new rounds was obvious. Benjamin Tyler Henry patented his lever-action repeating rifle in 1860, and some of his first guns saw service during the American Civil War, where they were lauded as game-changing force multipliers. The latter part of the 19th century saw a massive proliferation of lever guns across the American landscape, sweeping from sporting uses in the East to some of the best defensive weapons of the frontier, and much more.

Mike Harvey, President of Cimmaron Firearms is excited to introduce the Winchester Model 1887 lever-action shotgun. For those who don’t know, Cimmaron Firearms is one of the leaders in manufacturing replica Old West firearms. The Model 1887 is often a symbol of the American West Frontier due to its frequent use as a hunting and self-defense shotgun (or Terminator 2 if you’re a cinephile).

The Midnight Sky movie featured on Netflix isn’t really a “gun movie,” but the film’s main character utilizes a unique looking lever action rifle that’s worth taking a look at. The lever action rifle in question is clearly a stainless Marlin with a strange looking muzzle device and a slick looking skeletonized buttstock.  Despite the gun, or gun play not being a primary focus of The Midnight Sky, the curious looking Marlin does see some action, and we get some nice glimpses of it in the process.

Henry, a manufacturer of classic lever action rifles, has spent the last few years bringing new features into their most popular models. Ranging from side loading gates to threaded barrels and accessory rails, Henry is listening to customer requests and building traditional guns with additional modern features. And they have just announced their most all-encompassing upgrade to date: most of Henry’s lever action rifles will now feature side loading gates. In addition, their single shot rifles are now available in .350 Legend and .450 Bushmaster.

The trend of modernized lever-action rifles keeps growing and currently, most of the major lever-action rifle manufacturers offer such guns. At NRAAM 2019, Marlin introduced the  Dark Series, at SHOT Show 2020, Henry released the  X-Series and Rossi jumped on the bandwagon of modern lever guns with the launch of  R92 Triple Black rifles. Well, the Brazilian company is expanding their line of black lever guns offered in the US market by adding a rimfire one. This new iteration of Rossi’s Rio Bravo lever-action rifle has a quite nice-looking Magpul-esque polymer furniture and other features seen in guns of this new breed.

Benjamin Tyler Henry can be fairly credited with one of the more significant accomplishments in firearms history. Although he was not the first inventor to ever dabble in lever-action guns, as a few other examples like Colt’s early “ring lever” cap-and-ball rifles can be found previously, his original rifle from 1860 really brought the technology into its own and enabled it to proliferate. Combined with the development of self-contained cartridge ammo, this new firearm type would go on to become wildly popular and spawn a number of similar designs from other manufacturers. Benjamin Tyler’s early rifles can arguably be considered some of the most important firearms in American history, and among the revered class of “guns that won the West”.

Lever-action fans, cowboy action shooters, and ranch hands, this one is for you. As first teased at SHOT Show 2020, your lever guns are getting some new food. One of the industry’s premier ammo manufacturers, Federal Ammunition, has partnered with Henry Repeating Arms to research and develop rounds that are purpose-built for your classically Wild West-style rifles. Federal’s new HammerDown line is now shipping in five calibers: 44 Rem Magnum, 45-70 Government, 30-30 Win, 327 Federal Magnum, and 45 Colt. A sixth flavor, 357 Magnum, is slated to come on line soon as well. To announce the official introduction of these newly-available yeehaw rounds, Federal has issued the following press release:

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another Featured Deals of the Quarantine. I’m Benjamin F and without any further ado, some hot deals.

While I have always enjoyed a deep appreciation for classic lever action rifles, they have never held a home in my safe. Like many of you, my tastes and preferences have evolved over time, touching almost every facet of our industry. In recent years, suppressed personal defense weapons (PDWs) have dominated my attention – both practical and extremely satisfying to shoot – given the resources I’d own every available combination possible. However, there has always been a part of me that was drawn to a classic lever gun chambered in a big bore cartridge. So when the opportunity came to handle the new Henry loading gate lever action rifle in .45-70, I laid down my 300BLK subsonics and picked up a mixture of hardened brass and fine wood.

So you thought you have seen it all in the AR world? Well, then meet the mind-boggling Red Ryd-AR lever-action AR-15 by BrickWurX Manufacturing. When I came across this project, all I could find were the photos from the BrickWurX Mfg. Facebook page that you can see embedded in this article and a YouTube video which you can also watch below. I contacted the company to see if I can find out more about this firearm. Luckily, John Brickey, the owner of the company replied and kindly answered all my questions.

Today’s Photo Of The Day is provided by VEREX Tactical, a company located in Oberalm, Austria. While the Marlin 1895 SBL depicted in the photos has a bunch of custom carvings, engravings and finishes, what really jumps out is the actual lever which is made of a bike chain.

Bishop Ammunition & Firearms has introduced a lever action rifle chambered in .458 SOCOM. The rifle is based on a Marlin 1895 GBL which was redesigned and re-barreled to be able to chamber arguably the most popular big bore AR-15 round. The company brought this rifle to the SHOT Show 2019 and they have just announced that it is now available for preorder.
