Aimpoint has announced that they have won a large contract to supply sights to Berlin’s Police at the 2018 Enforce Tac coverage from the Nürnberg Messe. The Swedish company revealed that they will be supplying the Berliner Polizei with 3,800 Aimpoint CompM4 red dot sights. The sights will primarily be mounted on Berlin Police’s HK MP5s.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army have all but abandoned the venerable Type 79 Submachine Gun in favour of the newer QCW-05 bullpup personal defence weapon. It seems, however, that the Type 79 remains popular with China’s SWAT teams.

FN America has announced that FN’s new SCAR-SC is now available for purchase for US law enforcement agencies at all levels. The subcompact carbine was first  unveiled last year at Milipol 2017 in Paris by FN America’s parent company, FN Herstal.

Vermont-based Atlas Gunworks have unveiled their new tactical 9x19mm 1911, the Titan Operator. Unlike Atlas’s line of competition 1911s, the Titan Operator is said to be optimised for duty and carry.

On the 19th January, a contract award notice was published announcing that Italy’s Carabinieri have ordered 1,000 new Beretta PMX submachine guns.  Beretta unveiled their new submachine gun, the successor to the iconic Modello 12 submachine gun, back in November at the 2017 Paris Milipol expo.

Back in December 2017, we reported that Berlin Police selected the Heckler & Koch SFP9 TR as their new service pistol. The new pistol will replace the ageing SIG Sauer P6 (P225) that was adopted back in the 1970s.

Ever since the CornerShot system was launched in 2003 it has been the focus of international interest and has inevitably been copied by others. The original system was designed by retired Israeli Army Lt.Col. Amos Golan, who with American investors, established Corner Shot Holdings.

Hot on the heels of news that Berlin’s 17,000 strong police force will r eplace its aging SIG P6s (P225) with Heckler & Koch’s SFP9, better known as the VP9 in the US, it has been announced that Baden-Württemberg will also be buying a new batch of sidearms from Heckler & Koch.

To that same extent, law enforcement can have specific needs based on their intended use in the field. To fill that need, a category of Hornady Law Enforcement ammunition exists. Some new offerings Hornady will be presenting to law enforcement in 2018 will come through their TAP (Tactical Application Police) and Critical Duty series.

A number of British police forces are considering arming their officers. The move comes in the wake of the UK suffering five high profile terror attack in 2017. Three regional police forces are reported to feel that the large areas they police mean that the current system of only specially trained firearms officers being armed limits their ability to respond to terrorism and serious crimes involving firearms.

America’s largest police department is set to finally decommission the last of its service revolvers. The Gun Free Zone blog shared a photograph of a NYPD memo, dated 11/20/17, announcing that all remaining revolvers are to be replaced by department authorised semi-automatic pistols.
