The Secret Service has reportedly selected the Glock 19 MOS Gen5 and the Glock 47 MOS Gen5, both in 9x19mm, to replace their current service pistol, the SIG Sauer P229, chambered in .357 SIG.

American Defense Manufacturing have announced that Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, in Louisiana, have selected American Defense Mfg.’s .308 UIC10 rifle. What role the new rifles will have has not been announced but the rifle’s calibre suggests it may be used as a sharpshooter/marksman’s rifle.

SIG Sauer have announced that Milwaukee Police Department will transition to using the P320 in 9x19mm as their official duty pistol. The P320 will replace the Smith & Wesson M&P .40 S&W which has been in use since 2009.

Glock have announced that Allentown Police Department, in Pennsylvania, have selected the Glock 19 Gen5. Just under 300 officers, in Pennsylvania’s 3rd biggest city, will be switching from SIG Sauers to Glocks.

Spain’s oldest law enforcement agency, the Guardia Civil, have agreed a pair of contracts to procure new HK G36s and MP5s. Spain have ordered 425 5.56x45mm G36K carbines at a cost of 699,380 Euros or $790,372, giving a unit price of just under $1,540 per carbine. The carbines will ship with a 1.5x optic, 2 magazines, sling, cleaning kit and manual.

New York state’s Lloyd Harbor Police Department has selected the SIG Sauer P320 as its new duty pistol replacing the .40 calibre Glock 23. The chambering of the new SIG duty pistols has not been confirmed. The small Long Island Town of Lloyd Harbor has a police department with 13 officers.

Back in April 2018, we reported that Germany’s Hesse state police were in search for a new 5.56x45mm rifle. German defence blog Strategie-Technik reports that Hessian state police have selected a variant of the Heckler & Koch HK416.

The Indiana State Police have selected SIG Sauer’s P365 as their back up duty pistol for their entire force. They join Sumter PD who also recently chose the P365 as their back up pistol of choice. Indiana State Police have over 1,200 troopers who are already armed with the P227, as their standard duty pistol.

The Guardia Civil, Spain’s oldest law enforcement agency, has issued some of its officers with old, obsolete rifles. The Union de Guardia Civiles, a police union, has raised concerns that its officer are being equipped with out of date firearms after some units were issued with CETME Model C’s dating from the 1960s. The Union de Guardia Civiles expressed ‘surprise and outrage’ when units in Cantabria, La Rioja, Burgos and Soria, all in northern Spain, were issued Model C’s from central Guardia Civil stores to replace CETME Model LCs. The ageing rifles had previously been used for ceremonial purposes.

The Sheriff’s Department of Lake County, Indiana has selected the compact MP9 submachine gun form B&T, presumably for issuing to their Tactical Unit (S.W.A.T). The Lake County Sheriff’s Department has an 18 strong tactical unit who are “available to assist local, state and federal agencies throughout the Northwest Indiana area.” Lake County is Indiana’s second largest county and includes the cities of Hammond and Gary.

Glock’s Asia Pacific arm are set supply 6,000 new duty pistols to the Singapore Police Force to replace the revolvers currently issued to officers. Glock have confirmed that the 9x19mm Glock 19 Gen 5 has been selected.

The County sheriff’s department in Hancock, Maine are making the switch from SIG Sauer to Glock with the department-wide adoption of the Glock 45 in 9x19mm. It follows the recent news that New Hampshire’s Grafton County Sheriff’s Department also selected the new Gen 5 Glock 45 and Glock 17 as their new service pistols.

Arkansas’ Springdale PD will purchase around 150 new 9x19mm Glock G43s to equip the department’s officers with backup guns. Springdale’s City Council unanimously approved the purchase and the guns will be purchased using department funds and a federal grant.

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary at one of the UK’s nuclear powerplants in Sellafield, Cumbria recently shared a cool ‘then and now’ photo on Twitter. The CNC are a special police force responsible for protecting Britain’s civil nuclear power infrastructure. As such most CNC officers are authorised firearms officer. The UK’s CNC is based at 10 sites around the UK with Sellafield being one of three operational sites.
