It is the annual tradition of the Krieghoff company to produce one of their guns as a particularly
artistic masterpiece and to present it to the world as “ Gun of the Year“. “For us, it’s primarily about showing the skills and passion of our craftsmen and also what manual work is able to achieve.” Mr. Krieghoff himself explained the meaning behind this project. “It represents the opportunity to work without the normal limitations that artists usually have. The engraving alone takes months, but the stock and barrel also require great skill.”

Krieghoff Gun Of The Year 2021 – The Spartan Gun

German hunting arms manufacturer Krieghoff annually releases a “Gun of The Year”, one of their firearms with a custom engraving theme dedicated to a certain person, event or place. In 2019, the Krieghoff Gun Of The Year was a tribute to Abraham Lincoln, the 2020 gun was engraved with Galapagos Islands wildlife. The 2021 Krieghoff Gun Of The Year is an over & under shotgun (likely a K-80) called The Spartan Gun and it’s dedicated to the Battle of Thermopylae (480 BC) and 300 Spartans. The gun is engraved with battle scenes, Greek motifs and the ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ inscription.

Krieghoff have announced the introduction of a new 12 gauge competition shotgun based on their K-80. The new K-80 34” Parcours over & under shotgun has a longer barrel and an extended sight plane. FG42 Rifle Review (Smith Machine Group Reproduction)

The German FG42 (Fallschirmjägergewehr 42) was a rifle designed as a multi-role combat small arm for airborne troops that was part rifle and part light machine gun. Only about 10,000 were made during WWII, but the design was very influential after the conflict ended (especially in the USA).
A company In Decatur Texas is now reproducing these guns in semi-auto only configuration, and in this video we put one to the test!
