Not many people associate Q with the AR-15, but the Sugar Weasel might be the most significant “new” AR-15 to come around in years. While the Sugar Weasel started life as a more economical Honey Badger, it’s arguably going to be a more versatile and popular rifle than the Honey Badger itself.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves interviews the creator of the Honey Badger, Kevin Brittingham of Q, about the new Q Boombox. The Boombox is, more or less, the “big brother” of the Honey Badger. While the Honey Badger uses a 5.56mm sized frame to accommodate .300 Blackout rounds, the Boombox uses the new 8.6mm Blackout, which works in the same size frame as 7.62mm guns like .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. And even though the Boombox has a big caliber and capability jump, it is only a few ounces heavier and a few inches longer than the Honey Badger. See what all the noise is about.

Last week we got a peek at impressively quiet, integrally suppressed, bolt action 9mm rifle from Curtis Tactical. We’ll get another look at this setup in a few weeks. Today I’d like to discuss the recent news about the Q Honey Badger Pistol Brace receiving undue scrutiny from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

Firearms Manufacturer Q LLC announced today that it was issued a Cease and Desist by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. The ATF’s letter notified Q that the Honey Badger pistol is now considered a Short barreled rifle (SBR) and ordered them to immediately cease production of the firearm unless it is registered on an ATF Form 2, declaring that they are manufacturing an NFA weapon.

Q has announced that their new Sugar Weasel pistol is now available to order. At first glance, it may look identical to the Honey Badger, however, if you take a closer look, you’ll start noticing some differences. While sharing a large number of features with the Honey Badger, the Sugar Weasel is somewhat simplified with the goal of making it much more affordable.

The Honey Badger is probably one of the most iconic firearms of the day. So much so that it has even infiltrated video games and can be found in Call of Duty. But what is it? Arriving in the mail for review today was SIG Sauer MCX Rattler Canebrake.  Thanks to SIG’s fantastic customer service team, I was able to get this gun promptly and I can’t thank them enough.  Now, let’s take a closer look at the newest addition to the MCX lineup.

In 2017, at the French exhibition Milipol, TFB told you about and showed you pictures of FN Herstal’s SCAR-SC with 300 BLK in development.

The Fix is Kevin Brittingham’s flag ship bolt gun for Q. He came out with a Mini Fix SBR which is small enough to fit into a backpack. Just like the Honey Badger pistol, Q collaborated with SB Tactical and had them make a custom brace so they can make a Mini Fix Pistol. Adam Kraut posted the photo above.

Since its humble beginnings as a garage workshop invention, the pistol stabilizing brace (PSB) has gone through a few generations worth of changes, upgrades and advancements. Some iterations were strictly functional, focusing on comfort over aesthetics. However, recent models have evolved into braces that are nearly indistinguishable from their stock counterparts. Collaborating with SB Tactical, the firearm and silencer designers, builders and manufacturers at Q have created a PSB specifically for the Honey Badger stock attachment assembly.
