Wilson Combat has introduced a new 30 caliber cartridge called .300 HAM’R. It is primarily marketed as a hunting cartridge designed to duplicate the performance of the iconic .30-30 Winchester in an AR-15 platform. In fact, Bill Wilson originally named this cartridge .30-30 AR, then later renamed it using their HAM’R trademark.

.400AR – Another Wildcat Cartridge for the AR-15

So you want an AR-15 for hog hunting that can launch .40 cal (10mm) pills? This wildcat caliber might be what you are looking for. It is called .400AR and was developed for hog hunting. The designers had initial requirements to have the largest caliber that will allow having double stack loaded ammunition in magazines fitting into the AR-15 magazine well. They also wanted to have at least 2,000 ft-lbs (2,712 joules) of muzzle energy and be able to use one of common cartridge head sizes which would allow using an off-the-shelf AR-15 bolt.

NEW: Remington R1 10mm Hunter Long Slide

Remington is expanding their reach in handguns by adding a 10mm to their lineup. One Big Blind: New Hunting Blind from Ameristep

There’s a new hunting blind coming to the woods near you, and it’s hard to miss. That’s because it measures 6 feet tall, 6 feet wide, and stands 7 feet tall (yes, really). New Trulock Choke Tube for Hog Hunters

In the hunting world there tend to be some fairly fiercely-held beliefs when it comes to the rifles-versus-shotguns argument. While there are pros to each, there’s one way to bring some rifle fans into the shotgun-loving camp: make a better choke tube. Or at least that’s the way to get some hog hunters using shotguns next time they’re going out after a big boar. Trulock has decided to make that happen.

PSA: Subsonic Squib

Hat tip to Bradley for sending us the link to this video. It is a public service announcement. Many of us have heard of squibs happening. Just like a DQ in a competitive match; there are two kinds of people out there, those that have had it happen and those that will. I only have a .22LR SWR Spectre II suppressor and I shoot standard velocity and high velocity loads out of it. So it never occurred to me that a subsonic load would be more susceptible to being a squib load. The scenario in the video was a stroke of luck for the shooter. Shooters should try to always be vigilant when shooting. Accidents happen when we get complacent. Just like this shooter. He has shot thousands of rounds. He felt something odd but continued loading another round and he kept trying.  Had he been paying more attention, he would have acted on his initial observation and checked for the squib. It is hard though, to divorce yourself from the task at hand. We all do it. We get tunnel visioned into the target and forget to stop and check. Let this video be a warning to stay aware and pay attention to what is happening in your gun.
