Hensoldt Break Ground on New Factory

German optics company Hensoldt have announced they are building a new factory at Oberkochen in southern Germany. Hensoldt plan for the new plant to be self sustaining with power provided by the company’s own renewable sources. The Company hope to move into their new location by 2025. They already have a facility in Oberkochen as well as in nearby Aalen and the new facility will expand the  HENSOLDT Optronics Campus.

Hensoldt Optronics & Theon Sensors form HENSOLDT THEON NightVision

A new night vision company has been created by Hensoldt Optronics GmbH and Theon Sensors SA. The name of the new company is Hensoldt Theon NightVision GmbH, and their joint forces will be used to develop products and solutions for thermal imaging and night vision. In the announcement, they specifically mention new products like night vision goggles and weapon-adapted night vision attachments.

POTD: Heckler & Koch PSG1 at Lock, Stock & Barrel

If you ever go to the island of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea please make sure that you allow time to visit the firearms dealer Lock, Stock & Barrel. Apart from a great company name they offer a large collection of modern and historical firearms. In our Photo Of The Day, we’ll take a closer look at one of those firearms, namely the Präzisionsschützengewehr-1 as it’s called in its original language, German. The PSG1 is a semi-automatic sniper rifle. Mechanically, it’s based on the HK G3 rifle, but it’s supposed to produce less than 1 MOA groups with decent ammunition. This may not sound so special today, but remember that the rifle was designed in 1968.

POTD: A Rifle With A View – Heckler & Koch G36 A3

This Gewehr 36, or G36, is looking over the largest multinational training area in Europe. The location is Grafenwöhr in eastern Bavaria, Germany. The Grafenwoehr Training Area is located directly south-west of the town, and became an important training site for the U.S. Army and allied forces after the World War II. As you can see, it is still in use, and it also looks like there’s plenty of room for the 5.56×45 mm to stretch out.

H&K MSG90 Sniper Rifle Overview

The H&K MSG90 is essentially a lighter, more portable, and soldier friendly version of the famous PSG1 rifle. It features many of its improvements and is accurized in much the same way, but has been put on a diet to better compete with more modern rifles.
