In December 2019, we reported that the Japanese Self-Defense Forces had completed evaluations for both a new service pistol and rifle. It was announced that they had selected a 5.56x45mm rifle developed by Howa and the Heckler & Koch SFP9. Today, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces unveiled their new weapons and confirmed that the rifle will be designated the Type 20.

Heckler & Koch USA has delivered the first shipments of the M110A1 Squad Designated Marksman Rifles (SDMR) to the US Army.

Now I know some of you only carry on the body with your favorite concealed carry handgun and that’s totally fine. As expected these guns, as well as the guns Brannon has in the rental cases at The St. Bernard Indoor Shooting Center have functioned reliably and without issue. The VP9 series is a robust and consumer priced option for a full-sized striker-fired gun, and also comes in compact sizes and other calibers.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense is looking for a Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) via their Defence Materiel Organisation.

Media reports have lead us to believe that the world-renowned German firearms manufacturer Heckler & Koch may be up for sale. This is not actually the case. In a german news article posted on November 8th, it was announced that Heckler and Koch are set to be acquired by an investor who seeks to take a majority hold of the company. After a clarifying call with our friends at H&K USA, it seems the proposed sale/acquisition would be just an internal change of the distribution shares between current investors.
