POTD: Sniper from Marinejegerkommandoen with HK417 & Colt C8

It’s kind of hard to see what’s going on in this Photo Of The Day, but that’s how snipers like it. You are looking at a sniper from the Marinejegerkommandoen (MJK) / Norwegian Naval Special Operation Commando during an exercise and training. You can see the muzzle flash from his Heckler & Koch HK417 and you can just barely make out his Schmidt & Bender riflescope, and some of the rubber bands around it. Bottom-right you can see the dangerous end of the spotter’s firearm, most likely a suppressed Colt C8 carbine.

French Army Buys Steiner Scopes, Trijicon Reflex Sights & Spuhr Mounts for Snipers

Steiner Optics and Humbert CTTS, a French distributor, has won a large contract to supply various riflescopes to the French Armed Forces. Initially, the contract is to supply 375 pieces of Steiner M5xi 5-25×56 riflescopes with Laser Protection Filters. The intention is that these optics will fit the current French heavy sniper rifles PGM Hecate II in caliber 12.7×99 mm.

Danish Armed Forces Chose New Sniper Rifle – Colt Canada C20 DMR

The Danish Armed Forces have selected Colt Canada C20 Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) in 7.62×51 mm as their new sniper rifle. The C20 DMR is intended to replace the current Heckler & Koch  HK417S (Sniper). The Danish name will be Finskyttegevaer, Kort (FINSKGV K). Roughly translated it means “fine shooting rifle, short”, and it will be introduced from the first quarter of 2021.

Photo Of The Day and yet another great photo by Hille James Combat Photographer. Today we’re looking at a Dutch sniper of the Korps Commandotroepen (KCT) in Afghanistan. The sniper has a Suppressed Heckler & Koch HK417 with, most likely, a Schmidt & Bender riflescope and an Aimpoint Micro as a secondary sight. I think the laser range finder is a RAPTAR from Wilcox.
