SILENCER SATURDAY #251: The Hansohn Brothers Vidar 22 Rimfire Suppressor
Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the YHM R9 Multi-Host suppressor. Last week we brought you an initial look at the ECCO Machine Salamander rimfire suppressor – it’s thin, it’s light, and it’s priced right. This week we continue the .22LR journey with a look at the Hansohn Brothers Vidar 22 silencer. Does this can have what it takes to take on the big dogs? Let’s find out.
KVP MACH Linear Comp's 3-Lug Mount Available at Hansohn Brothers
Over the years, TFB has periodically reported on new linear compensator products that have been released. Some previous examples of these devices have included the model that is probably the most well-known take on the linear comp concept: the SureFire Warden, as well as others like the VG6 Precision CAGE device, Area 419’s Hellfire model, and the big-bore TROMIX linear comp, among a number of others. The whole idea behind a linear comp device, for those who haven’t used them and aren’t familiar with them, is essentially to divert muzzle blast forward, away from the shooter as well as anyone around him or her laterally. Particularly for rifles with shorter barrels, this can help turn what would otherwise be a harsh fire-breather into an easier beast to tame. One of the more recent takes on this linear comp idea came from a company called Kaw Valley Precision, or KVP for short. Last year they announced a modular linear comp, dubbed the MACH system.
POTD: Yin Yang – GLOCK Gen2 And Gen5
Ok, do not hold this against me, but the first defensive pistol I owned was a Smith & Wesson Sigma chambered in .40S&W. What can I say, I was young, vulnerable and wandering around a gun show. The kicker was that next to the Sigma, the seller had a table full of Gen2 Glocks. Two decades later and the Sigma is long gone and I am left begging for Gen2 pictures. Luckily, Chris from Hansohn Brothers had just picked up a brand new Gen 5 G19 to replace his well worn Gen2.
[SHOT '17] AAC Ti-Rant 9 Reborn: The 9M Modular Silencer
Advanced Armament Corporation (AAC), a division of Remington Arms, is announcing the re-release of the Ti-Rant 9 pistol-caliber suppressor. Dubbed the 9M, the Ti-Rant is capable of running in two configurations: a full-length eight inch suppressor for maximum suppression or a sub-six inch suppressor for a more compact package.
BLACK FRIDAY 2016: Make Suppressor Deals Great Again! Updated 11:40AM EST 11/25
To be honest, I can’t stand traditional Black Friday sales tactics. A mad rush of people fighting over stuff they probably don’t need or want is the last place I want to be a day after Thanksgiving. In fact If I never set foot in a mall again, I’ll be a happy man. However, there are some serious suppressor deals to be had if you’ve been watching the market and saving your money.
A Beginner's Guide to Suppressors: Part 3
In part one and part two of the beginner’s series we walked you through the process of researching, buying and finally transferring a new suppressor from a dealer. We even gave you assignments along the way, like getting barrels threaded, buying a booster or picking out muzzle devices. So, let’s fast forward four to six (six to nine?) months when your paperwork comes back approved and start talking about the fun stuff: suppressor ownership and shooting suppressed weapons. Chances are that once you experience the world of suppressors, you won’t be able to go back to your old (loud) ways.
A Beginner's Guide to Suppressors: Part 2
So, you have always wanted a suppressor but figured that they were too expensive or the paperwork wasn’t worth your time. Or, you never considered owning a silencer until your idiot brother-in-law spun that monster brake/compensator on his AR at the range last week. Fear not, we are going to hold your hand through the process of researching, buying and owning suppressors. It really is pretty simple.
A Beginner's Guide to Suppressors: Part 1
We are living in a Golden Age of suppressors. The market is flush with caliber ratings, high-tech materials, new mounting options and a host of accessories. If you have ever thought about owning a suppressor, or even if you haven’t, let’s walk you through your first purchase from start to finish. Believe me, you want one. Ok, more than one.
