The suppressor market is very competitive. With most suppressor manufacturers offering products to fill the same roles, innovation is the key to standing out. Guns & Ammo recently awarded their yearly accolades to the new guns and gear of 2021. With some excellent products having been released, the competition was stiff. Coming out on top to land the Rifle of the Year award was Savage Arms with their straight-pull IMPULSE bolt-action rifle.

Safariland is known for making rugged, quality holsters. Their holsters are used by police and military around the globe. Now, their 575 GLS Pro-Fit concealment holster has been officially recognized. Guns & Ammo magazine has just named the inside-the-waistband holster the 2021 Holster of the Year.

SilencerCo has been pumping out hits like the Omega 36M for quite some time and dominating the silencer game. TFB was one of the 1st media outlets to cover the unveiling of the Omega 36M almost 1 year ago courtesy of our writer Nicholas Chen. Now, with some time and more range use behind it the Omega 36M has garnered Guns & Ammo’s “Suppressor of the Year” award for 2020. Guns & Ammo has named their 2020 “Handgun of the Year” and it is the Springfield Armory Hellcat which will not come as a surprise to many people for how exceedingly popular it has been since its debut last September 2019. It has been in a constant battle with the SIG Sauer P365 for micro-compact superiority and either one laying claim to the title of “Handgun of the Year” would be duly deserving. Oh yes, it’s that time. The 10mm Automatic, what hasn’t been said about it? Well, a decently sourced article about its history*, maybe, but that’s for another time. Right now, we’re considering the 10mm Auto (or 10mm Norma as it’s more prim and properly called) as a personal defense weapon and submachine gun caliber. The 10mm was designed in 1980 by Swedish company FFV Norma AB with input from Jeff Cooper as the most powerful and capable automatic handgun round of its day, but will that extra power pay off when pushed beyond its design limits into the 50-300m range, at least according to the JBM Ballistics calculator?

Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone who uses guns for long enough will make a mistake or two. Sometimes, though, they make those mistakes at the most cringe-inducing times (such as this famous incident from 2004 involving a DEA agent). I love it when someone can take the time to break something down Barney-style. Stepping up to the plate to help confused shooters out is Guns and Ammo magazine which has published “Common Ballistic Terms You Should Know” complete with handy graphics (for the reading impaired) and supporting text (for those who like to read).

Its amazing how the times and thinking changes over time. Guns and Ammo posted up an article from 1966 on the debate of full-size rifles versus carbines.
