Griffin Armament is best known for their silencers. They’ve been putting out quality cans since their founding in 2006, and many of their models have enjoyed significant success. From their versatile Bushwacker 46, the user-configurable Optimus, their 30SD-K model, the modular Resistance 22 rimfire can, to their new GP-N A2-mountable can, and many more, Griffin usually has at least one suppressor, if not multiple options, capable of filling virtually any role for which you might need a can.

Griffin GP-N A2-Mountable Silencer Product Release

At SHOT Show 2020, Griffin Armament gave us a heads up that they had a new suppressor in the works: the GP-NATO (or GP-N for short). While most of the industry’s popular cans tend to use various aftermarket mounting systems, this new 6.5″ dedicated 5.56 model would wear the NATO designation because it was designed to attach to the common A2 “birdcage” flash hider, the typical muzzle device for most NATO nations’ standard-issue M4s and similar firearms. Griffin drew inspiration and some lessons learned from Gemtech’s prior A2-compatible design, the Halo silencer. Now the GP-N is finally here and should be shipping soon. The text from Griffin‘s release announcement reads as follows.

TFB Review: Griffin Armament CAM-LOK – One Can, Multiple Caliber Hosts

Griffin Armament came out with a new pistol suppressor piston that they call CAM-LOK. This is a piston for tilt-lock barrels. The CAM-LOK system converts your suppressor into a sort of 3-lug style design. I bought a CAM-LOK piston for my SilencerCo Osprey45 and three CAM-LOK barrel adapters for three different calibers. Why hasn’t anyone done this before? It’s awesome!

Griffin Armament Expands ATM Line of Threaded Pistol Barrels

Griffin Armament is best known for their silencers, along with the complimenting mounts, muzzle devices, and other sound suppression-related accessories. Since 2006, this Wisconsin-based company has designed and produced many suppressor models for a variety of calibers and applications. Some of these robust and versatile options include the Bushwacker 46, the Resistance 22, the Paladin 5, the 30 SD-K GATE-LOK, the Optimus, and many more. They’ve also made headlines recently with their release of a new CAM-LOK handgun QD system. This innovation boasts the ability to quickly and securely mount handgun suppressors without the loosening risks associated with hand-threading or the need for a separate booster, as is normally the case when suppressing tilt-barrel pistols.

Griffin Armament Announces The CAM-LOK Universal QD Piston System for Handguns

Griffin Armament has just released what is probably one of the more interesting releases in the suppressor world for me this year. The new CAM-LOK (Covert Application Mount – Locking) QD piston for tilt-barrel handguns. Normally, tilt barrel pistols are not compatible with suppressors without a booster and Griffin Armament has just introduced a way to make this process faster. The new system allows for rapid, secure mounting of pistol suppressors to handguns.

Much of what was new for SHOT Show 2020 for Griffin Armament has already been covered by our resident suppressor addict and Editor-in-Chief, Pete. However, Griffin Armament did have something new and shiny at SHOT Show 2020. Their GP-N is a QD suppressor that attaches to an A2 Nato flash hider.

One Can To Rule Them All? The Griffin Armament BUSHWACKER 46

In general, I am not a big fan of “do it all” suppressors – the features that make them so adaptable can lead to just average decibel reduction performance. But Griffin Armament may have nailed the “one can to rule them all” premise with their latest release. The Griffin Armament BUSHWACKER 46 can handle everything from a big bore .45-70 lever gun down to a three lug 9mm pistol caliber carbine. I’ve been debating a Marlin Dark series rifle in a “monster Grizzly Bear ready” caliber and a dedicated silencer. But the BUSHWACKER 46 will allow me to swap it between hosts for the 99.9% of the time I’m not shooting .45-70.

BOTW: 300BLK PDW

Third Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Tony R.  A pretty clean and straightforward 2-stamp build, with good component choices (IMO, that is).  I don’t have any experience with Holosun, and personally am not a fan of top mounted lights, but this is not my build.

SILENCER SATURDAY #8: Breaking The Sound Barriers

Welcome back everyone. It’s Saturday which means it’s time for our weekly discussion of silencers and related information for those who like to make shooting a more enjoyable sport. Today’s headline has a bit of a double meaning. First, the barriers to entry for a potential suppressor customer feels quite large. For someone who is used to filling out 4473 paperwork at the gun counter and walking out with their new gun, the forms are daunting, the wait time feels tortuous, the extra $200 is expensive and the ownership regulations appear tedious. Of course, for those that have been through the ATF Form 4 process previously, most of the above concerns no longer exist – it’s a lot easier than it appears.

Last Night Of Hanukkah At TFB – Rifle Silencers

Even though today is officially the tenth day of TFB Christmas, I wanted to make sure to recognize the last night of Hanukkah for our Jewish readers and shooters around the world. If I had thought of it, I would have made today the “illumination” part of the series – bringing much needed light to the dark winter days of the northern hemisphere. Instead, today is arbitrarily all about Rifle Silencers.
