The next evolution for the home machinist is DIY RMR cuts in Glock slides with the Ghost Gunner 3 (GG3). Defense Distributed was kind enough to send in their Optic Cut Kit. I ran the code on two slides and documented the process. Let’s take a look at how you can machine your own RMR cut into slides in the convenience of your own home.

When the Ghost Gunner 3 came out, there was a lot of potential mentioned by Defense Distributed. One major upgrade from previous generations of the Ghost Gunner (GG) is the fact the GG3 can cut steel. Well, Defense Distributed put up a teaser video on their Instagram. GG3 Glock optics cut is happening.

Defense Distributed (DD) came out with the Ghost Gunner to help freedom-loving individuals machine 80% receivers with more precision for a garage builder. Other than buying a HAAS or similarly expensive CNC machine, the Ghost Gunner gets the job done. Well now that 80% are in danger of being restricted and regulated, DD came up with the 0% lower receiver kit. They sent one of their kits in for review so let us dive in and see how the 0% lower receiver build process is and how the receiver works.

Yes you read that right. Defense distributed has taken their Ghost Gunner desktop CNC to the next level. They are now offering jigs and code to mill a zero percent receiver (raw billet blank aka brick of aluminum) into a lower receiver. Life finds a way to be ungovernable.

For those of you who have been not paying attention for the past few years, Cody Wilson of DEFCAD and Ghost Gunner has been providing lawful gun owners the files and means to manufacture their own firearms. Specifically, 3D printed guns. Technology has advanced that it is easier to manufacture a working firearm at home and it is cost-effective. Recently DEFCAD wins in the Ninth Circuit Court.

Down in the Big Easy on the last day of GunFest 2021, Cody Wilson and his team from Ghost Gunner brought out their Ghost Gunner 3 and a new product that has been highly anticipated for the past year. The Ghost Gunner AK-47 kit is finally here.

For those of you who keep your ear to the ground in regards to the development of open-source firearms technology, it should come as no surprise that Open Source Firearms has been hard at work developing the Ghost Gunner Flex. For the uninitiated, the Ghost Gunner Flex is an ongoing open-source project that has been developed as an iteration of the Defense Distributed Ghost Gunner 2 that is created using commonly available hobby components.

An opportunity arose to review the new Ghost Gunner 3 from Defense Distributed and I swooped on it like a boomer on a 1911. The Ghost Gunner 3 is a completely new machine from its predecessors. Like the Daft Punk song, the GG3 is Harder, Better, Faster. Besides completing AR-15 lowers, the Ghost Gunner can help make a bunch of other guns and with some third party support you can open up the Ghost Gunner to perform other tasks like engraving your lowers. You can also mill other lowers like a Polymer 80, AR-10 and 1911. They are working on codes and jigs for an AK but that has yet to come out.

Also set for 2020, the Ghost Gunner is purported to be able to produce AK-47 receivers.

Back in October we posted about the Ghost Gunner being able to machine pistol frames. They have a working setup for completing 1911 80% frames. The frames cost $120 and the jig is $217. The jig is machined aluminum and comes with the tooling that you need to finish it with the Ghost Gunner.

Defense Distributed is a small company located in Texas that makes a specialized CNC machine called a Ghost Gunner that allows individuals to mill an AR lower. While anyone can complete an 80% AR lower with a few hand held power tools, the Ghost Gunner allows, in theory, a more elegant solution. Simply position your 80% lower in the machine and let the computer program take care of all of the milling and drilling.

Defense Distributed’s project to produce and sell machines that can create firearms receivers for individual hobbyists is now being realized. “Ghost Gunner” miniature CNC machines are, after several delays, finally shipping. From WeaponsMan:
