Welcome to TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 9: Essential Gear Edition. This week I’ve gathered a handful of items that I consider to be “essential” when it comes to shooting or everyday carry duty. We’re lucky enough to have an absolutely staggering amount of high-quality products available to us in the gun industry but it’s always nice to have those things when we also get a bit of a discount (especially during these trying days). This week we’ve got a few lights, a knife, hearing protection, and even some sight-in targets. Are these the only things you’ll be needing at the range? No. However, I find myself using these items more often than not and every item on this list is something I more or less carry with me to the range every time,. Everything else just depends on what kind of shooting I plan on doing for the day.

Gerber has been a long time favorite knife and tool manufacturer of mine. Being from my home town of Portland Oregon, the company has made many EDC knives as well as multi-tools and other bladed tools alike. Gerber has just announced that you can now custom design your own every day carry (EDC) knife at Gerber Custom.

If you carry a gun, you probably carry a knife. Not only are knives helpful on the range, but they also serve as an important tool in many people’s daily activities. And let’s not forget that a good knife can be a valuable self defense tool as well.

Gerber announced the company was launching a new line of knives called the G1 series. With the G1 series, Gerber intends to showcase American craftsmanship.

Gerber announced a new multitool that many sport shooters, hunters and outdoorsmen might like. It is called the Center-Drive Multitool.

Gerber announced the company would release a commemorative edition of the 06 Auto knife in July. The new knife will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the knife’s introduction and service to the US military deployed in combat overseas.

While many tool makers like Leatherman, Real Avid, and others have been moving towards fully integrated MSR Multi-tools, Gerber has taken a radically different approach with the “Short Stack.”

Aaron Cowan at Breach-Bang-Clear gives reviewers the low-down on three popular multi-tools for ARs and shooting in general. Up to task was the Leatherman MUT, Gerber Efect, Gerber MP1, and the Multitasker Series 3.He breaks down the tools in light of their shooting focus and in some instances, breaks a few of the tools himself.

The Gerber Short Stack is a compact AR-15 maintenance tool. It has 15 functions and fits inside a Magpul MOE/MIAD grip.

One of the fun things that happens from time to time is that a mystery box just appears on my doorstep. The latest one came from Gerber Gear. I made an unboxing video since that’s what the kids like to watch these days and I had no idea what was inside:

It’s funny how guns and knives just go together. I’m willing to bet that if you own a gun, chances are that you own at least one knife. I think I own 10 — I lost count somewhere along the way. I don’t know if the converse is true where many knife owners are also guns owners, but that’s a topic a knife guy can write about.
