Is this Glock’s best pistol ever? James thinks so. In this episode of TFBTV, James​⁠ is at Glock USA HQ in Smyrna for the reveal and review of the new Glock 49. The Glock 49 Gen 5 MOS 9mm is the newest addition to the Glock lineup. Officially released to the commercial market, the Glock 49 Gen 5 MOS combines the compact and concealable design of the Glock 19 with a full-sized Glock 17 slide and barrel, offering enhanced performance and a longer sight radius. This new model has been eagerly anticipated since leaks of the “19L” began to circulate. The G49 MOS, boasting a 15+1 round capacity, a 4.49-inch Glock Marksman Barrel, and the MOS system for optics, merges compact frame convenience with full-size functionality.

Tyrant Designs makes a whole cornucopia of firearm CNC upgrade parts. Tyrant Designs I.T.T.S Glock triggers are now available for Gen 3/4 and Gen 5 pistols. Tyrant Designs was nice enough to send in both and we tested them out. Let’s dive in.

Welcome everyone to the 54th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

Earlier this month at 2018 NRA Annual Meeting, Wilson Combat has introduced their new Vickers Elite Gen5 Glock 19 and Glock 17 pistols. The customization package was designed in cooperation with Larry Vickers and represents Larry’s vision of the improved Glock carry and service pistol.

Unlike previous Glock models where triggers and trigger bars can be more or less switched between models of the same caliber and frame, Glock changed some of the design features, most prominently being the ambidextrous slide lock which therefore changes the shape of the trigger bar in the Gen 5, in addition changing the trigger housing. That means that previous trigger designs made for any of the generations beforehand will not work in the Gen 5. This applies to previous Apex triggers made for earlier Gen Glocks as well. Ever since the Gen 5 was publicly released, the company has been working on and testing the compatibility of various parts in addition to prototyping their own. One part that has fit from earlier Generations is their Apex Failure Resistant Extractor.

Ok, do not hold this against me, but the first defensive pistol I owned was a Smith & Wesson Sigma chambered in .40S&W. What can I say, I was young, vulnerable and wandering around a gun show. The kicker was that next to the Sigma, the seller had a table full of Gen2 Glocks. Two decades later and the Sigma is long gone and I am left begging for Gen2 pictures. Luckily, Chris from Hansohn Brothers had just picked up a brand new Gen 5 G19 to replace his well worn Gen2.

With the Glock Gen 5 recently being announced companies like Overwatch Precision are dropping updated versions of just about everything they currently make for the gen 4 Glocks. That means that if you are a fan of a particular trigger like the Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger and own a Gen 5 Glock, there isn’t much of a wait for the updated part.

Over at Glock Talk, more images of the mysterious Glock M series of pistol have surfaced, this time in the model 19 flavor. The included pictures give us some detailed shots of the flared and relief-cut magazine well. The subtle differences in the current offerings follow Glock’s painfully slow strategy of incremental change.

With the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting now just a few days away, new product announcements are a foregone conclusion. At the top of my (and many others) list of releases is the the elusive Glock Generation 5 and/or ‘M’ models that may or may not make an appearance sometime this year. Possibly signaling pending public availability, a legitimate ‘high speed, low drag’ friend of mine was just issued a Glock 17M for some real-world testing.

The new FBI Glock has been something of a mystery since the Austrian pistol was selected as the FBI’s next sidearm. Some photoshop generated renderings have been put together using the solicitation as a guide, while other Glock enthusiasts have carefully been combing through the requirements to determine what features may be included.
