At SHOT Show 2023, Fostech introduced a new generation of magnesium/aluminum alloy AR-15 receivers called FLITE Elite that are now made of forgings. These receivers are advertised to be 30% stronger and 30% lighter than their counterparts made of 6061 aluminum. In ounces, that’s a 2 oz weight reduction in the case of the FLITE Elite upper receiver (4.92 oz vs 6.92 oz). Also new from Fostech is a .22LR rifle called FLITE Phantom.

Pursuant to an ATF determination earlier this summer, the FosTech Origin SBV firearm now falls under the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA). The Origin SBV is equipped with a smooth bore barrel that is less than 18” in length, but utilizes a pistol stabilizing brace instead of a shoulder stock. The setup, once believed to avoid NFA regulations, has been reclassified as either a Short Barreled Shotgun (SBS) or an Any Other Weapon (AOW) requiring an NFA registration and transfer application and taxes.

FosTecH Inc. has created the Echo Sport trigger, their second pull and release trigger system for AR-15 rifles. The Echo Sport is different from Fostech’s first version in that there’s an added paddle switch to change firing modes from binary to standard semi-automatic firing instead of using the safety selector like the Echo AR-II.

At the Leviathan x Big Daddy Unlimited Epic Shoot 2018 media event, Fostech unveiled some brand new products. The highlight of their presentation would have to be their Echo AK47 trigger. Although they have another interesting trigger along with a ridiculously lightweight magnesium handguard.

Legal red tape and restrictions aside, automatic firearms have become financially challenging for the average citizen to purchase since the enactment of the Firearm Owners’ Protection Act of 1986. While transferable machine guns can cost tens of thousands of dollars, Fostech ECHO AR-II trigger provides the AR-15 family a $480 non-NFA* solution ( https://fostech.us/echo-trigger.html) that fires on pull and on release.

Fostech is bringing an interesting variant of their 12 gauge Origin 12 shotgun to market. The Origin 12 SBV is along the lines of their NFA Short Barrel Shotguns with a 10 inch barrel, but it isn’t an NFA item at all. Because it has a smooth bore, it isn’t a handgun either. It is simply classified as a firearm, even with a arm stabilizing brace installed. The brace still cannot be shouldered because the complaint letter from ATF on the brace regards the actual use on any firearm it is attached to. MSRP is $2,850 for the Nickel Internal version, and 2,750 for the Hard Black version. Magazines pictured are standard 5 round magazines, but the variant can accept any magazine or drum that the Orgin 12 line is available with. These include an 8 round, 10 round, 20 round drum, and 30 round drum as well.

Yes, the varrous “bump fire” stocks are enjoyable to shoot, but they have limited practical utility. With one pushing the weapon forward, maintaining aim (which is usually accomplished by pulling the gun to the rear) is pretty much out the window.

What happens when you combine a 30 shell drum, a Fostech Origin 12, and a SilencerCo shotgun suppressor? Epic near-full auto patterning. Eric, or IraqVeteran8888 as he is known on the internet, has the Fostech Origin-12 shotgun in full short-barrel shotgun configuration in-hand for testing. While the previous video showed a similar configuration, Eric attempts to and fails to outrun the system.

In yet another “I can’t believe its legal” installment from the ATF Technology’s branch, two companies are approaching the market with fire on pull and release trigger systems. Fostech Outdoors (known for their Origin 12 shotgun) and Franklin Armory ( for the .17 semi-auto modern sporting rifle) are both readying “binary” (as Franklin Armory is calling it) trigger systems for the general market.

Fostech Outdoors had a prototype bullpup bump firing stock for the AK platform on display at Media Day. Its design was striking, to say the least, and most people will either love or hate it. Personally I loved the look.
