Strike Industries Ring Sights For PS/P90 Are Now Available!

Strike Industries has just released a series of integrated Ring Sights for the FN Herstal PS90 civilian rifle, and P90 submachine gun. There are four different versions, each one different from another in terms of power options, reticles, and back up power configurations. Strike claims that the largest advantage over going with a proprietary integrated sighting option over a Picatinny mounted sight is that the ring sights will allow a shooter to gain a more natural and better cheek weld than with a Picatinny mounted version that will raise the sight up. In addition, the integrated solution is drop tested to NATO standards and should theoretically be slightly more rugged than a Picatinny solution because it is actually integrated into the submachine gun/rifle. All models are secured to the submachine gun/rifle via replacing the standard factory sights or the Picatinny rail that comes installed. To adjust these sights, a user has to mechanically adjust the entire sight in its place, rather than any individual clicks through some sort of turret. All the models also come with their appropriate mounting hardware.

G36 Replacement Candidates Leaked Through Jane's

The G36’s replacement is now known to be one of five guns – or at least that’s the report coming from reputable defense outlet IHS Jane’s. Competing in Germany’s System Sturmgewehr Bundeswehr (Bundeswehr Assault Rifle System) will be the Rheinmetall RS556, Heckler & Koch HK433, Haenel Defence MK556, SIG MCX, and FNH SCAR. For four contestants, no known 7.62mm variants exist; only the FN SCAR has a 7.62mm variant – the SCAR-H – that is known publicly. This means the Bundeswehr will likely not be going back to .30 caliber infantry rifles any time soon.

FN Herstal FCU Mk3 Upgrade

At IDEX 2017, FN Herstal introduced several upgrades to the companies Fire Control Unit Mk3, designed to mount to a picatinny rail, and provide a laser range finder/holographic sight and a UBGL launcher. Although the unit is seen mounted on a SCAR 17 with FN’s picatinny mounted GL-1 UBGL, it can be made to work with any launcher on the Military/LE market or in current issue (as long as there is picatinny rail estate). Some features currently with the older Mk3 include automatically adjusted point of aim, indication of weapon cant, pressure pad activated laser range finding, and a reticle with day and night targeting abilities. The Gen 3 version provides a quick attach portion to the rail, larger holographic window, smaller dimensions, less battery power usage, and improved laser ranging abilities. In addition it offers a training safe laser portion, something many militaries require for training at home. The unit is powered by a single CR123 battery, and can reach out to 1000 meters. Although this is almost triple the distance of most 40x46mm grenades in use, it does offer the user an accurate range finder for other applications, or in a worst case scenario where primary range finders go down.

FN DeFNder M3P Machine Gun

The FN DeFNder is a remote weapon station that can accomodate any of FN Herstal’s machine guns. The weapon platform looks rather stable in full auto as you can see in the video below. The RWS can be mounted to an armored vehicle or even a boat for Naval purposes. It has cameras that can see in day or night. Machine guns can be replaced and interchanged in minutes.

The FN SCAR 16s: Is It Worth The Money?

The FN SCAR 16s is the civilian semi-automatic version of the select-fire SCAR 16 rifle. Chambered in 5.56x45mm, it has to compete with AR15 rifles that do the same thing for 1/3rd the cost. While the SCAR certainly has a few unique features and handles well, is that enough to justify the high MSRP?

POTD: Mystery SCAR-H Mag Extension

I found this image online but I cannot find out who makes the magazine extension for the SCARH magazine. He even asked one of the Belgian employees and they said it is not made by FNH.
