For anyone looking into a career in the firearms industry, Ruger is now hiring multiple positions throughout seven locations across the United States.  There’s a wide range of positions Ruger is currently hiring for, such as Production Associates, Industrial Tech Helpdesk, Occupational Health Nurse, Product Design Engineer, Tool Maker, and several others.  Ruger also listed the benefits they offer for those that gain employment with the company.

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently published the essential critical infrastructure workforce in an attempt to provide guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting business shutdowns. In the breakdown of businesses that meet the criteria as essential to commerce and infrastructure, the firearms industry is mentioned specifically as “Workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges”. The guidance is non-binding and the firearms industry is mentioned in the ‘law enforcement, public safety and first responders’ subsection, however, it does not state whom they can or cannot service.

Rumors about the internal workings of Utah-based SilencerCo have bounced around social media for the past 48 hours. And while there has yet to be an official word from the company itself, there are a few industry insiders with a tangential relationship to SiCo that have offered up their insight and analysis. I’ve combined their anonymous comments on the company’s ongoing workforce issues below:

It’s a pretty rough time for many in the firearms industry these days, Colt recently filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and PTR Industries has been having trouble paying their rent. The Fountain Valley, California based gun accessories and flashlight maker SureFire, LLC recently announced that they too are in some financial troubles and will be laying off staff due to a drop in revenue from military spending.
