The tilt-locking, short-stroke piston operated 7.62mm Belgian light rifle has been accepted by so many nations and seen so much combat opposite the ubiquitous Soviet AK rifle that it has earned the nickname “the right arm of the free world”.
Taliban Fighters In Kunduz, Afghanistan, Spotted Using SCARs and HMMWVs
The Taliban have been on the move recently, capturing an Afghanistan National Army District Headquarters in a recent battle. Footage of the battle show a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs, or Humvees) and FN SCAR-Heavy rifle in use by the fighters, captured from earlier ANA forces during an earlier engagement. The footage is available in a video embedded below:
FN Announces FN-15 Military Collector Series
Good news from the 2015 NRA Show for those looking to buy their first mil-spec AR-15. Fabrique Nationale has announced AR-15 rifles replicating in semi-automatic their M16A4 and M4 military rifles, coming in Fall of 2015. From the press release:

Chuck at GunLab recently posted on a cutaway L1A1 British FAL; since I have been studying the FAL recently, I was naturally drawn to the post. Unfortunately, Chuck’s coverage is somewhat spartan, and the images fairly low resolution, so I went hunting for more. I found quite a few great images of cutaway FALs, which I have shared below:
