POTD: Australian Army Soldier – Rim of the Pacific

Photo Of The Day: Above you see (well, kind of) an Australian Army soldier from the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment. He patrols through bushland during a simulated reconnaissance operation during the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. From June 29 to August 4, 26 countries, 38 ships, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft, and 25,000 people will take part in RIMPAC in and near the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. Photo Of The Day – We take a look at the Australian F88 Austeyr, the Austrian Steyr AUG STG-77 lookalike. The pictures are from the 2020 Army Skill at Arms Meeting Champion Shot, a competition to test the skills of shooters through realistic and challenging scenarios. We see an Australian Army soldier from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment as he takes a sight picture during the moving target serial. Note how compact the F88 is despite its 16″ barrel.

POTD: Austeyr F88 Line Thrower in Royal Australian Navy

TFB’s Photo Of The Day and we’re looking at Seaman Boatswains Mate Hayden Sleath as he fires the line thrower projectile from HMAS Anzac to HMAS Sirius, during a replenishment at sea. The rifle used is an Austeyr F88 and the photographer managed to catch the projectile just at it leaves the ship.
