POTD: The CZ Bren 2 in Action
There’s a lot of action in today’s Photo Of The Day, with the CZ Bren 2 at the playgrounds of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia. Almost three years ago, the Czech Army decided they will be using CZ Bren 2 as their standard-issue rifle, and here they let their NATO friends try it out to the fullest.
POTD: Spanish Heckler & Koch G36
Photo Of The Day – Established in 2014 this is TFB’s way to show carefully selected photographs on a daily basis. As a bonus, you get a short story and hopefully, you’ll learn or see something new. Today the Heckler & Koch G36, a standard-issue rifle for the Spanish Army, is on offer. Note that these rifles do not have a red dot mounted. The pictures are from Camp Ādaži in Latvia, very close to the capital Riga.
POTD: CZ Bren in NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia
Photo Of The Day, with pictures of the CZ Bren from the sky as well as the ground. The pictures are from the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia where the Czech Republic contingent prepared for a two-day small arms shooting competition for the Battle Group. Soldiers from all nations at Camp Adazi participated to compete and compare shooting skills. Day one included a pistol stage and day two the rifle stage we see here.
POTD: Slovenian Soldiers with FN F2000S
The FN F2000 is the standard issue rifle for the Slovenian Armed Forces. The Slovenians have bought a total of 14,000 rifles and their version of the rifle is called the FN F2000S. Since FN Herstal has now stopped the production of this model this seems like both the first and the last large-scale adoption of this rifle by a European and NATO member country.
POTD: International Sniper Competition at Camp Adazi – Barrett MRAD
The Barrett MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) with a Schmidt & Bender riflescope is how today’s Photo Of The Day is introduced. The sniper is from Norway and you can see a spent .338 Lapua Magnum being ejected. The Norwegian Armed Forces ordered the MRAD already in 2013 and it’s in use by several ordinary and special units, including the Police. Below you can see them running into position, unfortunately, they did not have a good day in the competition. Note the mirage band on the MRAD. Does anyone know who makers it?

For instance, if you’re looking for photos of snipers just check here. Today the subject is the Colt Canada C7A2, here seen with the eFP Battle Group Latvia where they had the chance to share the shooting range with soldiers from the U.S. Army. Another opportunity for NATO allies to train together.
POTD: Heckler & Koch G36 in Silver Arrow 2021
Photo Of The Day and we are back to the excellent pictures from the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group in Latvia. We get a look at soldiers working together to mount a strong defence against an opposing force during the exercise Silver Arrow. Silver Arrow is part of the larger Namejs 2021, designed to test the skills and interoperability of the multiple NATO partners. Above you can see a soldier shooting his Heckler & Koch G36 from a prone position.
POTD: Slovenian Armed Forces with FN F2000 Rifles
Photo Of The Day: One of the best and most detailed live photos of the FN F2000 can be seen above. The rifle has an Aimpoint sight and a laser illuminator on the left side. The FN F2000 is the standard issue rifle for the Slovenian Armed Forces. The Slovenians have bought a total of 14,000 rifles and now FN Herstal has stopped the production of this model.
POTD: The Mk 19 Grenade Launcher With All The Extras
The Mk 19 grenade launcher has been around for a while, since 1968 in fact. In some ways, it reminds me of a gigantic MAC-10 made out of cheap sheet metal, but still able to throw those 40 mm high-explosive potatoes with high reliability. It seems someone spent a few hundred thousand dollars on the Mk 19 pictured above. It got all sorts of thermals, laser rangefinders and ballistic computers attached to it. To compare, the price of a Mk 19 is $20,000 ( Wikipedia).
POTD: eFP Battle Group-Latvia In Joint Force Exercise
Each day a different image from the World of firearms. We call this POTD, short for Photo Of The Day, and is our daily article where we go to great length trying to find the most interesting pictures for you out there. Today we’re looking at Canadian Land Forces soldiers of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, 2nd Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group, as they’re setting up security in the early morning hours. The unit was on a joint force exercise with 3rd Battalion, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, to clear the area of enemy in the mountainous wooded border region near Lielvarde, Latvia.
POTD: Slovakians With vz. 58 Rifles
Photo Of The Day is in honor of the vz. 58 and the CZ 858 and if you haven’t tried one you missed something. My own CZ 858 is a “back to basics” rifle, to remind me that shooting is difficult and that you have to watch the iron sights and the recoil and “do it right” or you’ll miss. It’s also fun to have a rifle where you can buy ammunition in strange cans.
