Photo Of The Day: The Derya MK-12 semi-automatic shotgun from Turkey has become increasingly popular in sports and target shooting. They now just released a new drum magazine which is worth sharing some pictures of. While forbidden in some competitions like IPSC Shotgun (max 10+1 rounds and no drum magazines), they can provide a lot of fun at the range anyways.

It is Magpul week and Magpul is releasing new products every day this week. Today they are releasing two new 9mm drum magazines. The Magpul MP5 drum and Magpul Glock 17 drum.

In this #GunFest2021 episode of TFBTV, James Reeves chats with Jon Canipe of Magpul about their new D50 Glock drum. This drum holds 50 rounds of 9mm and works in several 9mm Glocks. The guys hit the details including a brief review of the features, cost, and release date, as well as the specs of this innovative new product.

Drums have been carried into battle since ancient times. The bone-quaking booms of massive drums let the enemy know that fury was about to be unleashed. The fury has remained the same, but Magpul has replaced the thundering vibrations with the sharp cracks of 9mm bullets. At Range Day, Magpul had some CZ Scorpions with their latest upgrades. They also had their new D50 .308 drum magazine feeding some AR-10 style rifles. Unfortunately the Magpul MP5 was just a prototype so it was only on display on the show floor.

If I asked you what the first first bullpup rifle was, what would you answer? The Steyr AUG? British EM-2 from the 1950s? The Faucon ‘Balanced Rifle’ from 1911 or maybe the Thorneycroft carbine from the early 1900s?

A recently published news video from Arizona-based 3TV/Arizona Family Channel concerning domestic violence in the U.S. Army included a photograph of a U.S. Soldier from the 7th Special Forces Group based out of Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The soldier is posing with what appears to be an M4A1 SOPMOD Block II and also appears to be on deployment in Afghanistan due to the terrain, green valley, and patchwork of compounds in the background.

AK receiver, SKS stock, HK 91 locking piece and firing pin, Zastava M76 bolt carrier and recoil spring, PPSh barrel shroud/muzzle brake, Suomi SMG drum magazines and bolt head … wouldn’t this rifle be Dr. Frankenstein’s creature if he was a gunsmith? The host of the YouTube channel called “ V8 Merc” made this firearm which for some of us represents an example of an ingenious gunsmithing talent and for others – a total heresy. Let’s watch the video where the YouTuber tells the story behind this rifle, its design features and shoots the gun.

Over a year into the transfer process of my TPM Outfitters MP5SD, I have yet to start stock piling magazines. For one, H&K magazines aren’t the most affordable on the market and two there are a couple of polymer options in the works that I am hoping to review before committing to a ‘German vs U.S. made’ plan. X Products just has added yet another mag option for the MP5 platform: the X-5 50 round drum magazine.

I stumbled across this picture of an odd 1911 drum magazine. It looks like is made of multiple 1911 magazines in a rotary style setup.

Armatac makes a dual drum magazine. At first glance one might think of a Beta C-Mag. However, that is as far as the similarities lie. The Armatac drum holds 150 rounds of 5.56. It is compatible with .300 blackout. The length of the ammo is crucial. 2.260 is the maximum length the ammo can be otherwise it will cause the drum to malfunction. Due to the method that the drum feeds ammo, it can work with full-length blanks. According to the representative, the Armatac drum does not need any form of lubrication like other drums.

Andrew of GY6 Vids is at it again. After his video of the DRT .308win Terminal Shock Ammo, Andrew received comments and requests to do it again this time with .223 and shooting it at different barriers before hitting ballistics gelatin. Like the previous video about the .308 ammo, he reuses the same ballistics gelatin for a number of shots and that makes me wonder if the gel block is compromised by the previous shots.

X-Products is making a 50 rd drum for colt magazine ARs. They are also going to make a 50 rd drum for 9mm ARs that use glock magazines. For a third product they are making a 32 rd drum magazine for Glock pistols. This seems overly complicated and unnecessary when Glock already as a 33 rd 9mm magazine. I do not see the benefit to a drum of similar capacity and surely increased cost. Right now this is a prototype. They need to increase the length so that it can fit full sized Glock grips.
