The People’s Project is a crowdfunding organization in the Ukraine to help their army upgrade their Ukranian AKs. Back in 2014 they helps upgrade Unit A 0224 with Holosun Optics, digital night vision, handguards and grips.

I learned about this firearm project from a firearms dedicated crowdfunding website called Gun Dynamics. By browsing their website you can find several gun-related campaigns but one of the most significant and interesting projects is definitely the crowdfunding campaign started by a company called Sirca Tec and dedicated to funding a really exciting pistol called SLF-X. Let’s take a closer look at this project.

The subject of this article is not a firearm, but it is definitely something that many of you would love to have or at least learn about especially if you are a 1911 aficionado. This is actually a KickStarter crowdfunding project. It is called M1911-H Reloading Card Holder and represents a card holder that is designed to look like a 1911 pistol grip and replicate the magazine release and insertion from/into the grip. Advanced Firearm Accessories (AFA), LLC is becoming widely known for their AF Loader which is the world’s first automated speedloader for handgun magazines. We first ran an article about AFA LLC and their marvelous automated speedloader back on September 26th. A short time thereafter while utilizing a site called IndieGoGo to crowdfund their endeavors, they watched that stream of funding resounding slam shut. No forewarning. No nothing.

AFA LLC, the company with an automated pistol magazine loader, was utilizing IndieGoGo’s website to crowdfund their project of the AF Loader. Like many small companies and start-ups, cash flow is not always in an abundance when you are starting out. As a result, they looked to IndieGoGo’s platform to help kickstart their project.

Sometimes there are great ideas that turn into great products. Sometimes there are OK ideas that with good marketing, turn into good products (at least for the company). And sometimes there are iffy ideas that are not likely to make a good product. In this writer’s opinion, the Mod Zero Defense M-Zero rail is one of those iffy ideas. Great concept, but the reduction to practice ultimately not a good idea.

We here at TFB have covered a variety of crowd-funded products over the years. Nathan S and other writers have shown that various technologies lend themselves well to crowdfunding and we are pleased to see a few of those projects have indeed succeeded, making it through development and out to the market.

In this article, we’ll take a look at 6 most interesting gun-related crowdfunding projects currently active in crowdfunding websites. Although many of these sites are not quite friendly to the gun community, there are still some that retain common sense. Namely, the Indiegogo has most of the firearms and outdoor campaigns. So below is the list of six projects available right now on crowdfunding websites (December 2017). The list is in no particular order:

Brandon Herrera, aka The AK Guy, has started an Indiegogo campaign to crowd fund a documentary of big manufacturers, builders, YouTubers, and other prominent people in the American AK Industry.

Polenar Tactical, the pro-firearms Slovenian group, has started an IndieGoGo campaign to make a training video about the AK platform. You may recall they are the group that made the video on “ Stereotypes at the Range”

Hoping to be the Kickstarter of the firearms community, TwistRate has opened is digital doors for aspiring firearms enthusiasts to fund their dreams, inventions, and kooky ideas. To hear them describe themselves:

Crowdfunding seems to be all the rage these days, especially with AR-15 80% lower receivers. What’s crowdfunding you ask? It’s pretty much a way for companies to build capital to help fund a new product, with regular folks from the internet as backers of these projects. There have already been a number of AR lowers on RocketHub over the past few months, but now it looks like AR-15 uppers are the next thing for gun crowd sourcing projects. Northwest Precision is offering backers stripped 7075 aluminum AR-15 uppers starting at $35 for a non-anodized version and $40 for a black anodized version. According to Northwest Precision you’ll get your upper even if they don’t reach their goal of $20,000. So if you have a new AR-15 build in the works, or if like me you’ve already funded a few 80% lowers, this new crowdsourcing campaign might be worth a shot if you’re looking for a budget priced stripped upper.
