The Rimfire Report: The Vudoo Target .22LR 1911 Pistol
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! In this ongoing series, we discuss anything and everything rimfire! Last week we heard from fellow TFB Writer Doug E as he discussed the futuristic-looking Beretta U22 NEOS pistol. Like a lot of other pistols of its era and style, the U22 NEOS was eventually discontinued which I think is a huge shame, especially considering that the Neos was also capable of being converted to a carbine with the purchase of a separate kit. Interestingly enough, this is something that a lot of people do with the Ruger MK III and MK IV series since the “upper” is actually the firearm and the grip/frame is an unserialized part. Thank you once again to Doug for sharing his knowledge and experience with us in last week’s edition! This week we’re checking out something completely different – a really expensive and allegedly very accurate 1911-style 22LR pistol – the Vudoo Target .22LR 1911 Pistol. Today we’ll be going over its specifications, features, use cases and of course my thoughts on the handgun so far.

META Tactical, renowned globally for providing the first-ever pistol to bullpup kit, shows no sign of slowing down the innovation train; the team has recently added the Taurus G3 to their impressive lineup of products, and they introduced it at SHOT 2024. The company’s unique offering – a platform that notably includes Glock, P80, PSA Dagger, Shadow Systems, and Smith & Wesson kits – now features this new addition.
The Rimfire Report: Conversion or Dedicated 22LR AR?
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many different types of guns, gear, shooting sports, ammunition, and history! When it comes to shooting .22LR ammunition, two popular options among AR-15 enthusiasts are dedicated .22LR AR-15 rifles and conversion kits. Each option has its merits but both have a very limited selection of options that cater to different needs and preferences and of course, have varying degrees of value depending on the situation you’re in. In this edition of The Rimfire Report, we will go over the advantages and disadvantages of both dedicated 22LR AR rifles and 22LR AR conversion kits, to help you make your decision based on your budget, shooting requirements, and overall firearm preferences.
The Rimfire Report: How to Properly Play with Your Kitty Kat (Clone)
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many types of guns, gear, shooting sports, and ammunition types! Last week we talked about a recent upgrade that was released for the KelTec P17 pistol. The new optics-ready slide is a cool addition to the pistol’s capabilities but I’m still debating on whether or not it’s a solid recommendation from me as it puts the pistol on the same price scale as the much more reliable and durable SIG P322 or even the classic Ruger Mark IV Lite. If the price were a bit lower for the entire package, I’d say it would be 100% worth picking up – so maybe wait for a sale or something because it’s certainly a lot of fun for a compact lightweight 22LR pistol. Today we’re going to combine the rimfire world with the world of clone builds. As you might have guessed from the title, today we’re talking about the DPMS Model RFA2-KIT or “Kitty Kat.” This pint-sized AR was originally intended to be used by SWAT entry teams which explains the ridiculously short 7″ barrel – even if you’re losing a lot of velocities, 5.56 has more than enough speed left to cause some serious damage at ranges you’d typically encounter baddies at indoors. However, if you’ve built one of these, you know you’re not training to use it for a planned entry – you’re probably mag-dumping it like the rest of us – and that’s expensive. Today we’re going to go over some of my recent experiences combining both Hop’s clone of the DPMS Kitty Kat, as well as CCMG’s latest iteration of their BRAVO 22LR conversion kit – this winning combination makes playing around with the Kitty Kat just a tad bit less expensive, and a whole lot more fun.
True Velocity Partners with FN America to Develop M240 Conversion Kit
True Velocity, Inc., designers of lightweight composite-cased ammunition, have announced a new partnership with FN America. The partnership will look to test True Velocity’s conversion kit which can chamber the M240 in the proprietary 6.8TVCM composite-cased cartridge with the change of a barrel.
Rifle Dynamics: "Let us Deal with the NFA" Pistol to Rifle Services
With the mad rush on the pistol brace ruling by the ATF, both firearms owners and producers alike are attempting to find ways to salvage their legally possessed firearms without the need to register them under the NFA. Rifle Dynamics is now offering pistol-to-rifle conversions with an additional 20% off select rifle parts as part of their pistol-to-rifle services. This service is for those who don’t want to deal with the NFA and still want to keep their Rifle Dynamics AK without disposing of it or registering it.
New Radial Delayed Blowback Rifle Conversion Kits from CMMG
CMMG’s Radial Delayed Blowback pistols are some of the most popular options for those looking for a pistol caliber carbine. However, with the recent stirrings in the NFA sphere regarding pistol stabilizing braces, the braced pistol option is quickly falling out of favor. CMMG is attempting to at least salvage part of what you have already by offering up new Radial Delayed Blowback Rifle Conversion Kits in its primary pistol caliber carbine cartridges: .45, 9mm, and 5.7x28mm.
[SHOT 2023] Schmeisser .22LR Conversion Kit For Glock Pistols
American Tactical Imports (ATI) will be bringing to the stateside .22LR conversion kits for Glock pistols made by German Schmeisser. These kits consist of drop-in barrels and feed ramps as well as 9x19mm cartridge-shaped chambers that house the .22LR ammunition, fit the standard 9mm magazines and are ejected out of the gun with the fired .22LR cases inside them. At SHOT Show 2023, we had a chance to take a look at this new Schmeisser .22LR conversion kit for Glock pistols.
The Rimfire Report: CMMG Bravo 22LR AR-15 Conversion Kit
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all bout the rimfire firearm world and its many firearms, ammunitions, shooting sports, and history! Last time on The Rimfire Report we took a look at the very budget-friendly Heritage Arms Rough Rider 22 caliber rimfire revolver. That little revolver is apparently one of the best-kept secrets of the rimfire world as many of you have had similar enjoyable results as I did while shooting the revolver. However, when it comes to modern arms and training, nothing is quite as ubiquitous or common as America’s rifle, the AR15. Pete’s September 3rd SILENCER SATURDAY featured a full-auto CMMG 22LR AR-15 conversion kit. Humorously enough, I had already planned to do a review and overview of the CMMG Bravo 22LR AR-15 Conversion Kit for Rimfire Report and if it hadn’t been Labor Day weekend, you all would have gotten a double dose of CCMG rimfire goodness. Unfortunately, our overview today will be a much milder, semi-auto look at the conversion kit but the same warning that Pete aired last week will be aired here – be careful, this conversion kit is sure to bring a smile to your face.
SPD MAGS Magazine Conversion Kits with Built-in Mag Loader
Anyone who has ever loaded a double stack single feed magazine will confirm that it is not the easiest magazine type to load, to say the least. No wonder why magazine loaders of many different styles exist that make loading ammunition in such magazines easier. SPD MAGS of Kerrville TX is another company that offers a solution for this issue. They make handgun magazine internal parts replacement kits with a built-in mechanism that makes the loading easier. Let’s see how the SPD MAGS conversion kits work.
Desert Tech Starts Shipment of the Trek-22 Bullpup Stock
One of the most hotly anticipated 10/22 accessories from SHOT Show is finally shipping from Desert Tech. Desert Tech officially announced that pre-ordered Trek-22 units had begun leaving the facility on June 16th and that additional orders would also be accepted as production ramps up. For those that might be interested in a bullpup 10/22 stock that requires no tax stamp (with a 16″ barrel), you can check out our coverage of the reveal of the Trek-22 from SHOT 2022 here.
US Army Seeks a M240 6.8mm Conversion Kit
The US Army has released a sources sought notice for a 6.8mm conversion kit for the M240B and M240L machine guns. The kit will convert the weapons from 7.62x51mm to the 6.8mm round which wins the Next Generation Squad Weapon program. The move is essentially market research to find vendors who might be capable of providing kits that include all necessary parts to convert the 7.62x51mm M240s to the new round. This might include barrels, gas systems, action springs and bolt assembly parts.
The APEX-Series Bullpup Carbine Conversion Kit from META Tactical
Bullpup rifles are popular for a lot of reasons but getting your hands on one can be a financial nightmare as some of the most popular models of bullpup rifles and pistol caliber carbines can be pretty expensive. The META Tactical APEX-Series Carbine Conversion kit was showcased earlier this year at SHOT Show 2022 and claims to be the world’s first bullpup-style pistol-to-rifle conversion kit. The APEX-Series claims to be able to convert your Glock, Polymer80, or Smith & Wesson handgun from its normal pistol configuration, into a 16″ carbine on the fly.
German NORLITE Carbine Conversion Kits for Glock Pistols
A German company called Norlite makes carbine conversion upper receiver units designed to be used with Glock pistol frames. When assembled together, the Norlite USK-G kit and Glock frame make a fixed barreled, blowback-operated, Glock magazine fed pistol caliber carbine. Let’s take a closer look.
TFB Review: CMMG Mk57 5.7x28mm Conversion Kit
CMMG continues on the 5.7×28 revival path. Last year, we reviewed CMMG’s FiveSeven magazine compatible 5.7×28 Banshee. Further reinforcing the 5.7×28 revival is CMMG’s new Mk57 Upper Conversion kit for standard AR lowers. Of most import is the fact that CMMG developed a 40 round 5.7×28 magazine to ship with the Mk57 that fits into one’s AR15 lower without any modification.
