[SHOT 2016] VertX Conceal Carry Bags and Clothing

VertX has two new bags this year. A garment bag and large messenger bag. Both bags are designed to be discrete. There are no overt logos on the outside of the bag. There is an embroidered cloth tag on one end and the handle has molded “VertX” into the grip, otherwise an onlooker won’t know it is a VertX bag. The garment bag looks to be the most interesting.

Mall Ninja Practicing In His Garage

Everyday No Days Off posted this on facebook. I hope this was done as a joke. Who dances with a 5.11 sling pack? I found it humorous that he carefully puts his AR pistol down. He needs to practice a bit more if he wants to be more proficient. The finale with the pumpkin was just odd.

Handgun Sling

Here is a different method of carrying your handgun for self defense. It is a simple design. The handgun sling is a loop of cord, that looks to be elastic. The ends are joined by an 8mm tube and looped onto the cord is a coin tab. You loop the Handgun Sling around your belt, insert the tube into the muzzle of your handgun and tuck the pistol into your pants. Then you use the coin tab to lift the cord up and over the rear of the slide. Thereby securing the pistol.

Man-PACK Conceal Sling Bag

At the Great American Outdoor Show, I came across Man-Pack. I am a recovering sucker of things in Multicam so their new Stalker series pack stood out for me. The Stalker series is only in Multicam, but their Classic line comes in solid colors like Black, OD and Brown depending on the model. The classic line are made of a heavy duty canvas material whereas the Stalker series is made of 600D rip stop Nylon and has a DWR treatment as well as water resistant main compartment zipper. The Stalker only weighs 1.8 lbs.The Stalker has a small flap of Nylon that covers up the zipper, while the regular Man-Pack has a large flap that covers the top 1/4 of the bag.

Need a Concealed Holster for Running? Pistol Wear May Have What You Want

Who here carries absolutely everywhere? And I mean everywhere… I try my best to do so (obviously I’m not carrying at SHOT), but while exercising, I’ve never really found a solution that works for me. I’ve tried everything from belly bands to fanny packs (don’t say it) to ClipDraw (which I love and will discuss in another article) to the Hill People Gear Recon bag. The best I’ve had for running and hiking to date is the HPG Recon, but even that says “Hey, I may have something in this bag attached to my chest”. Concealed options have always been a challenge for me to find (I would like to think I had exhausted all available options).

Review: SCOTTeVEST Brad Thor Alpha Jacket

After several months of being sold out, SCOTTeVEST restocked their new Brad Thor Alpha Jacket. I immediately ordered one. We posted about the Alpha Jacket back in May. The article detailed some of the main points of interest of the jacket. It briefly touched on the fact that the jacket has large pockets. But it doesn’t quite get across until you try one of these jackets in real life.

5.11 Select Carry Pack

With the increasing interest in pistol ARs, thanks to the ATF ruling on the SIG Brace, the 5.11 Select Carry pack is looking a lot more useable now. I was talking to a School Resource Officer who was contemplating carrying an AR-15 on duty. He was ambivalent due to pros of having one for an active shooter scenario and the cons of having it at all times. If he locks it up in his office, it is useless when he may need it to respond to an emergency. My concern is the open carrying of an AR-15. Even though he is a School Resource Officer, I can just see ignorant people freaking out. Most likely parents.
